Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" of small orange plaid design from Gingham Cottage 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 1/2" x 3-3/4" from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
- scrap of the small orange plaid design from Gingham Cottage 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
Insert the large Basic White rectangle into the Gingham Embossing Folder. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to make sure it is lined up straight. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed white rectangle to the front of the Pumpkin Pie card.
Mount the "hoot! hoot! you're so cute" sentiment from the Adorable Owls Set on Block G. Ink up one of the "hoot!" words using the side of the brush tip of the Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment in the bottom right corner of the horizontal Gingham Cottage Designer Paper rectangle as shown at a slight angle. Re-ink the stamp with the marker two more times and stamp it just above the previously stamped word each time at a slightly different angle as shown.
Adhere the sentiment stamped designer paper rectangle to the front of the card so about 1/8" of white shows on the bottom, left, and right edges.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the thin Pumpkin Pie strip into the left side of the punch (the side of the punch with the small, rounded scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Repeat on the other end.
Adhere the punched Pumpkin Pie strip to the front of the card so it is centered over the top of the designer paper rectangle.
Mount the owl with bowtie image from the Adorable Owls Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small white rectangle. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the owl with bowtie image on Block C with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the scrap of Gingham Cottage Designer Paper so you get the bowtie.
Place the stamped owl on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the owl's eyes, beak, and feet.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the top of the owl's head and ears and the owl's wings and body around his belly.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the owl's face and belly.
Leave the bowtie white.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the bowtie stamped on the designer paper scrap by hand.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the cut out designer paper bowtie over the top of the bowtie on the stamped and colored owl image.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the owl image by hand.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out owl image to the front of the card as shown so he is centered over the left end of the punched Pumpkin Pie strip.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one gem from the sheet of gems included in the Leaf Label & Amber Gem Combo Pack making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the upper right corner of the card.
