Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Garden Green Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Real Red Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of small dark green plaid design from Gingham Cottage 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/4" x 4" from Real Red Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 2" from Basic White Cardstock
- scrap of Real Red Cardstock
Pick out the open oval with tiny hearts along the edge die from the Framed Florets Dies. Put it on top of the green plaid Gingham Cottage Designer Paper rectangled on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is in the center. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Note: You are using the large rectangle of designer paper with little hearts cut out in an oval for this project. Keep the tiny heart cut outs for use on other projects if you wish.
Adhere the designer paper with heart oval cut out of it to the center of the large Real Red rectangle and then to the front of the Garden Green card. Make sure the hearts are right side up!
Pick out the open oval with hatch marks along the edge die from the Framed Florets Dies. Put it on top of the smaller Real Red rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Note: You are using the solid oval for this project. Keep the hatch marked oval frame cut out for use on another project if you wish.
Mount the "hoot! hoot! you're so cute" sentiment from the Adorable Owls Set on Block G. Ink up only one of the "hoot!" words using the side of the brush tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment fairly straight near the bottom of the vertical red oval cut out. Re-ink only the one word again using the marker, breathe on the stamp, and stamp it at a slight upward angle as shown near the center of the oval slightly closer to the right side. Now, re-ink both the "hoot! hoot!" words using the marker, breathe on the stamp, and stamp the sentiment near the top of the oval at a slightly downward angle.
Adhere the sentiment stamped oval to the front of the card so it is centered inside the oval formed by tiny hearts.
Mount the owl with party hat image from the Adorable Owls Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle. Don't worry if you don't get the entire party hat, you are going to cut it off anyway.
Place the stamped owl on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the owl's eyes, beak, and feet.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the top of the owl's head and ears and the owl's wings and body around his belly.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the owl's face and belly.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the owl by hand. Cut off the party hat.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out owl to the front of the card so it overlaps the lower left side of the red sentiment oval cut out as shown.
Pick out one of the sets of two little hearts dies from the Conversation Bubbles Dies. Put it on top of the small scrap of Real Red on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere one of the small red heart cut outs to the front of the card so it is centered over the owls wings over his belly.
