Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from So Saffron Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 2-7/8" x 4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 4" of small light yellow plaid design from Gingham Cottage 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
Adhere the strip of Gingham Cottage Designer Paper to the center of the 2-7/8" x 4" Crumb Cake rectangle. The top and bottom edges will be even.
Adhere the matted designer paper to the horizontal Pool Party rectangle so it is about 1/2" from the left side. The top and bottom edges will be even.
Adhere the Pool Party rectangle to the front of the So Saffron card.
Mount the flying owl image from the Adorable Owls Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the larger white rectangle.
Place the stamped flying owl on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the owl's eyes, beak, and feet.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the top of the owl's head and ears and the owl's wings and body around his belly.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the owl's face and belly.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the owl by hand.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out owl to the front of the card at a slight angle as shown so he overlaps the right edge of the matted designer paper just above center.
Mount the "hoot! hoot! you're so cute" sentiment from the Adorable Owls Set on Block G. Ink up one of the "hoot!" words using the side of the brush tip of the Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment in the center of the remaining, smaller white rectangle..
Pick out the medium, slightly rounded speech bubble with some hash marks along the edges and the point sticking off to the left die from the Conversation Bubbles Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the opening of the speech bubble. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed. Leave the die out.
Note: You are using the solid sentiment speech bubble cut out for this project. Keep the hatch marked speech bubble frame cut out in white for use on another project.
Put the same speech bubble die on top of the small Crumb Cake rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Note: You are using the speech bubble frame cut out for this project. Keep the solid Crumb Cake speech bubble cut out for use on another project.
Adhere the solid white sentiment speech bubble cut out to the front of the card just to the right of the owl cut out as shown.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the Crumb Cake speech bubble frame cut out to the front of the card so it frames the solid speech bubble cut out.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one large and two small white dots from the sheet of Classic Matte Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them in a straight row in the lower right corner of the card front as shown so the large dot is in the center.
