Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- base card from Misty Moonlight Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 5-3/4" and scored down at 3/4", 1-1/2", 2-1/4" and 3" from the 5-3/4" edge
- 3 wings each 2-3/4" x 4-1/4" from Misty Moonlight Cardstock
For starting panels with tree, birds, and It's Your Day!:
- 2-1/2" x 4" of slightly cloudy blue sky design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1-1/2" x 3" from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock
- 2" x 3-1/2" of woodgrain design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the grain lines are vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 1-7/8" x 3-3/8" from Adhesive Sheets
- 2" x 2-1/4" from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Cajun Craze Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" of various green leaves with blue splatters on white background design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
For "being a good dad..." panels:
- 2-1/2" x 4" of green brushstrokes design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the brushstrokes are horizontal on the vertical rectangle
- 1-1/2" x 3" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" from Basic White Cardstock
For fall leaves panels:
- 2-1/2" x 4" of Basic White Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" of fall color watercolor blobs design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
For relaxing man panels:
- 2-1/2" x 4" of slightly cloudy blue sky design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 3" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 3-1/4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" of slightly cloudy blue sky design from Beauty Of The Earth 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 3-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
Fold base card on all score lines and crease with Bone Folder.
Add Tear & Tape Adhesive to the top side of the small rectangle fold on the end. Fold the card on the 2nd score line (the 1-1/2" score as highlighted in the picture) so the Tear & Tape is on top.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape and close the large flap over onto the Tear & Tape. When you unfold things, you should have a small, open ended box on one end of the large flap.
Add Tear & Tape Adhesive to one long edge of each of the three 2-3/4" x 4-1/4" wing pieces.
One at a time, remove the protective from the Tear & Tape strips and adhere the wing pieces around the square at the end of the base card so that there is a wing sticking out from all 4 sides of the square (one of the wings is already in place as part of the base card).
If desired, fold the card flat to make sure all the pieces are moving freely. When folded flat, the card will fit in a Medium Envelope from Stampin' Up!
To decorate the starting panels with tree, birds, and It's Your Day!:
Adhere the leaves with blue splatters designer paper piece to the small flap showing on the base card piece when the card is flattened.
Mount the "It's Your Day!" sentiment from the A Good Man Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vertical cloudy blue sky designer paper rectangle about 1-1/4" from the bottom edge and about 1/4" from the right edge.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to the back side of the woodgrain designer paper rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the smaller bare tree die from the Beautiful Trees Dies. Put it on top of the woodgrain designer paper on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the woodgrain side is face up. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the bare tree cut out. Adhere it to the left side of the stamped sky designer paper rectangle so the trunk is about 3/4" from the left edge and the top of the tree is about 1/4" from the top edge.
Use your fingers to tear one long edge of the 1-1/2" x 3" Pear Pizzazz rectangle.
Adhere the torn Pear Pizzazz rectangle to the bottom of the sky designer paper rectangle so it covers the bottom of the tree and is just below the stamped sentiment.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess Pear Pizzazz Cardstock on the bottom, left, and right edges.
As you are ready to stamp using the Beauty Of Friendship Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the more solid, small tree leaf top image from the Beauty Of Friendship Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 2" x 2-1/4" Pear Pizzazz rectangle.
Mount the more detailed, small tree leaf top image from the Beauty Of Friendship Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped tree leaf top image.
Pick out the matching, open, small tree top die from the Beautiful Trees Dies. Put it on top of the stamped tree top image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Adhere the tree top cut out to the top of the bare tree on the designer paper rectangle.
Pick out the set of two birds die from the Beautiful Trees Dies. Put it on top of the Cajun Craze square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the bird cut outs so one is in the tree and the other is on the Pear Pizzazz "grass" below the sentiment.
Adhere the stamped designer paper rectangle with tree, grass, and birds attached to the large panel on the wing of the card when the card is flattened.
Flip the panels of the card to the left so you have two blank panels showing when the card is flattened.
To decorate the "being a good dad" panels:
Adhere the designer paper rectangle to the right side of the card when the card is flattened.
Mount the "being a good dad..." sentiment from the A Good Man Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 1-1/2" x 3" white rectangle.
Pick out the rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies that cuts out a rectangle that is 1" x 2-3/8". Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Adhere the sentiment rectangle cut out to the center of the designer paper rectangle on the right side of the flattened card.
Mount the man holding a child image from the A Good Man Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it near the bottom of the vertical 1-3/4" x 4" white rectangle. NOTE: If you don't want the child to have a pony tail, use a Blender Pen to remove the ink from the pony tail part of the stamp BEFORE stamping on the white cardstock.
Put the stamped white rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark and Light Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends to color in the man's jeans.
Use the Dark and Light Old Olive Stampin' Blends to color in the man's shirt.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the child's pants.
Use the Dark and Light Cajun Craze Blends to color in the child's shirt.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede and Dark and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to color in the ground below the man's feet.
Use the Dark and Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends to color in the sky all around the man and child.
Use the Bronze & Ivory Stampin' Blends to color in the skin showing on the man an child.
Use Smoky Slate or Crumb Cake or Bronze Stampin' Blends to color in the hair on the man and child.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Adhere the colored man and child rectangle to the small flap showing on the left side when the card is flattened.
Flip the panels of the card to the left so you have two blank panels showing when the card is flattened.
To decorate the fall leaves panels:
Adhere the fall colors designer paper rectangle to the small flap showing on the left side when the card is flattened.
Carefully remove a magnet from the back of the Stamparatus. TIP: To make it easier to grab the magnets and to help keep them from breaking if they snap together, wrap them in strips of washi tape or masking tape leaving folded over pieces to grab on to.
Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one hinged plate into the Stamparatus on the right side so it is in the topmost hinge space. Put the Stamparatus Foam Mat on the base of the Stamparatus. Put a piece of Small Grid Paper on the foam mat on the base of the Stamparatus.
Place the large white rectangle on the base of the Stamparatus so the cardstock is vertical and the top edge is along the top edge of the Stamparatus base and the right edge is along the right edge of the Stamparatus base. Use one magnet along the bottom to hold the cardstock in place. You will need to move the magnet as you stamp down the cardstock in the following steps.
Pick out the "You do a great job..." sentiment from the A Good Man Set. Place the stamp upside down on the cardstock on the Stamparatus base so that it is about 1/4" from the top edge and centered from side to side. Close the plate on the Stamparatus and press firmly so the stamp sticks to the plate. Open the plate.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Old Olive Ink Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue or the Simply Shammy. Close the plate onto the cardstock on the Stamparatus base and press down firmly. Open the plate. TIP: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp each time. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Remove the plate from the hinges and then reinsert it in the hinges one step down (the top of the plate should be in the 2nd hinge). Leave the cardstock in place. Re-ink the stamp on the plate using the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp. Open the plate.
Remove the plate from the hinges and then reinsert it in the hinges one step down (the top of the plate should be in the 3rd hinge). Leave the cardstock in place. Re-ink the stamp on the plate using the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp. Open the plate.
Remove the plate from the hinges and then reinsert it in the hinges one step down (the top of the plate should be in the 4th hinge). Leave the cardstock in place. Re-ink the stamp on the plate using the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp. Open the plate.
Use the Simply Shammy to clean the ink off the stamp, remove it from the plate, and put it away.
Leave the cardstock in place on the base of the Stamparatus.
Pick out the "You truly inspire me" sentiment from the Beauty Of Friendship Set. Place the stamp upside down on the cardstock on the Stamparatus base so that it is centered between the first and second set of previously stamped "you do a great job..." sentiments and is centered side to side. Close the plate on the Stamparatus and press firmly so the stamp sticks to the plate. Open the plate.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad.
Re-ink the stamp on the plate using the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp. Open the plate.
Remove the plate from the hinges and then reinsert it in the hinges one step down (the top of the plate should be in the 3rd hinge). Leave the cardstock in place. Re-ink the stamp on the plate using the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp. Open the plate.
Use the Simply Shammy to clean the ink off the stamp, remove it from the plate, and put it away.
Remove the cardstock from the Stamparatus.
As you are ready to stamp using the Banner Year Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the little maple leaf image from the Banner Year Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Cinnamon Cider Ink Pad. Stamp it randomly around the stamped sentiments on the white rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Let some of the images go off the edges of the cardstock. Change the orientation of the stamp each time. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink the little maple leaf image on Block A using the Bumblebee Ink Pad.
Re-ink the little maple leaf image on Block A using the Cajun Craze Ink Pad. Stamp off onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it randomly around the stamped sentiments on the white rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time and stamp off each time. Let some of the images go off the edges of the cardstock. Change the orientation of the stamp each time. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy and put it away.

Mount the "You're The Best" sentiment from the A Good Man Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it near the top of the 2" x 3-1/4" white, vertical rectangle so it is centered side to side.
Pick out the rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies that cuts out a rectangle that is 1-7/16" x 2-13/16". Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the top of the die. Run through the machine.
Adhere the sentiment rectangle cut out to the center of the small, left panel.
Mount the man relaxing in a chair image from the A Good Man Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 2-1/2" x 4" cloudy sky vertical designer paper rectangle so it is about 3/4" from the bottom and about 1/4" from the left edge. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the man relaxing in a chair image on Block D with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 2" x 3" white rectangle. Leave the stamp on the block.
Use your fingers to tear one long edge of the Crumb Cake rectangle.
Re-ink the man relaxing in a chair image on Block D with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the top of the torn edge of the Crumb Cake rectangle so you get the bottom of the chair, the shadows, and the man's feet.
Mount the "Relax Your Way!" sentiment from the A Good Man Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it along the bottom of the stamped and torn Crumb Cake rectangle so it is centered side to side just under the bottom edge of the chair with the bottom edge of the chair on the left side.
