A n adorable Halloween treat! This "Witchy" owl is hanging on to a tasty sucker, hidden in it's own little broom!
Project Recipe
Make the owl using the Owl Punch. Use liquid glue or two-way glue to attach things to the Champagne Glimmer paper. To make the hat, punch out an oval. Stick the oval to a piece of plain typing paper with a tiny amount of SNAIL adhesive (I remove some of the stickiness of the SNAIL by dabbing it on my jeans). Put the typing paper with the attached oval back in the punch and position it so that you are shaving off part of the shape to get the hat brim shape.
For the pointy part of the hat, use the Tree Punch. You are just punching out the upper portion of the tree.
Glue a thin strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper to the hat band. Attach the hat to your completed owl with liquid glue or glue dots.
Broom base: Take a 6" x 2 1/4" strip of Crushed Curry and score it at a 1/2" on the long 6" edge. Stamp the large speckle stamp from Gorgeous Grunge repeatedly in Crushed Curry ink. Use your bone folder or the edge of a table to break down the fibers in your Crushed Curry card stock so that it will curl without creasing. Use the Fringe Scissors (or regular scissors) to cut along the 6" side up to the score mark - stagger the cuts so they are not uniform in width and so you have longer and skinnier pieces. Place a strip of Sticky Strip above the score line the whole length except leave a space at the end of 3/4" with no Sticky Strip. Pull off the red plastic that covers the Sticky Strip, and starting at the end with the 3/4" gap of no Sticky Strip, start wrapping around the sucker stick. The goal is for the paper to stick to itself, not stick to the sucker stick, so that the recipient can easily remove it to eat the sucker.
Broom Handle: Cut a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock 2 1/4" x 2". Use the bone folder or the edge of a table to break the fibers so that the broom will not crease when you roll it. Place a piece of sticky strip on the long edge of the chocolate chip piece - start rolling the side without the Sticky Strip around the sucker stick. Right before you finish rolling it, remove the Sticky Strip red cover and then press to adhere it. Take a small piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, 3/4" x 5/8", break the fibers. Roll it very tightly and shove it into the hole at the top of the broom stick. You may want to add a glue dot to the base before you shove it in. Attach the owl to the handle with glue dots.
Add a piece of Hello Honey satin ribbon around the top of the broom bristles. A special thanks to Janet Yates at stampinnerd.blogspot.com for sharing this project!
