G reat birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of tree trunks with small birds flitting about design from Nests Of Winter 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the trunks are vertical on the horizontal rectangle
- 2-1/4" x 4-1/2" from Basic Beige Cardstock
- 3" x 3-3/4" from Basic Beige Cardstock
- 1" x 5-1/4" from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
Insert the 2-1/4" x 4-1/2" Basic Beige rectangle into the Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder so the lines are horizontal on the vertical rectangle. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to make sure it is lined up straight. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Basic Beige rectangle to the Nests Of Winter Designer Paper rectangle on the right side so it is about 3/8" from the right edge.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess Basic Beige Cardstock from the top and bottom edges.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the thin Cherry Cobbler strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
As you are ready to stamp using the Country Birdhouse Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "hoping you have the best day ever" sentiment from the Country Birdhouse Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched Cherry Cobbler strip so it is closer to the left edge with the punched end on the left.
Adhere the stamped, punched sentiment strip to the layered designer paper/cardstock so the punched end is about 1/2" from the left side and the bottom is about 3/4" from the bottom.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess Cherry Cobbler Cardstock along the right edge.
Cut a 4-3/4" piece of the Cherry Cobbler & Gold 1/4" Satin Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon vertically across the right side of the dry embossed Basic Beige strip attached to the designer paper. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the designer paper rectangle. Adhere the rectangle to the front of the Cherry Cobbler card.
Mount the two birds on a branch with berries image from the Winterly Tree Tops Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the remaining Basic Beige rectangle.
Pick out the matching, open, two birds on a branch with berries die from the Winterly Tree Tops Dies. Put it on top of the stamped birds on a branch image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Tip: I find it better to cut out images before coloring them. That way, if the die slips you haven't wasted time and ink coloring the image.
Place the birds on a branch cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark and Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends to color in the birds' heads, wings, tails, beaks, and highlights on the bellies. Make the red darker on the bird on the left as shown.
Use the Natural Tones Medium and Medium Light Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the birds and blend the colors together.
Use the Dark and Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends to color in the berries.
Use the Natural Tones Deep Stampin' Blends to color in the branches.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored birds on a branch cut out to the front of the card as shown. Let the bottoms of the cut out overlap the top of the sentiment strip. Make sure the right end of the branch tucks under the ribbon already on the card front.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Cherry Cobbler & Gold 1/4" Satin Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card front. Tie in place with a half knot so it is centered over the sentiment strip. Trim the ends.
