Project Recipe
Cut a standard 8.5 x 11 piece of Whisper White card stock in half lengthwise creating two 4.25 x 11" pieces.
Fold both in half creating two 4.25 x 5.5 cards
Set one aside
On the front of one of the cards you just created begin stamping the butterfly from Watercolor Wings stamp set.
Layer one is the full butterfly shape - stamp it with Soft Sky
Layer two is the edges of the wings - stamp it with Bermuda Bay
Layer Three is the center and wing accents - stamp it with Island Indigo
Do not stamp the body yet we will do that later
Cut out the butterfly image you just stamped onto the card from using the Bold Butterfly die
You can hold the die in place by lightly placing a piece of washi tape on one edge of the die
Once the image is cut out stamp the butterfly body onto the piece using Night of Navy ink
Cut the white edges off the butterfly all the way around ( you'll see why a little later)
Use the smaller intricate butterfly die and cut one from the Turquoise glimmer paper from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper stack.
Attach it to the main butterfly with glue dots on the center body portion only
Place the card front with the butterfly cut out of it on your work surface ( open the card and lay it flat front side facing you)
With the "swish" image ink with Soft Sky, stamp off the color once and then stamp onto the card front. Do this several time until you get the look you desire.
Stamp the sentiment from Happy Wishes stamp set on the bottom right corner of the card front with Night of Navy ink.
Set this piece aside.
Place the card front piece you have just completed with the blank inside facing up and the butterfly cutout at the top
Take the second Whisper White piece that is blank and lay it to the right of the preious piece with the "inside" of the card facing up.
Now you are going to cut 1/8" off the bottom edge of each card. That will be the short edge closest to you as you sit in front of them.
Lay them both back down in the same position as they were before. For both the "bottom" secton of the card will be 1/8" shorter than the top section.
Place Snail adhesive on the TOP portion of the blank card
Attach the BOTTOM portion of the stamped card to the TOP portion of the blank card aligning the fold to the top edge of the blank card and the edges down the sides.
This creates the tri-fold card
Fold up the bottom most section of the card and close the front section over it.
Apply Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of the butterfly and attach it through the opening onto the piece behind. (This is why you cut off the white edge, so the piece would fit inside the cutout and not hang up on the card front when the card is opened)
Open the card front and use Soft Sky ink and the dots image from Watercolor Wings stamp set to add some spots around the butterfly.
Use Night of Navy ink to stamp the remaining sentiment
I have an instruction video you can view on how to make the tri-fold card on Youtube.
