S ubtle framed colors through a vellum window
Project Recipe
Whisper White A2 card base landscape.
Choose the size circle window you would like. (item# 141705) I chose a circle that was slightly smaller than the largest Stitched Circle Thinlit (item # 145372) so that I was able to make the stitched circle frame around my window. Cut your circle offset to the bottom right corner. Note: be sure to leave space that your frame will fit on your card.
To make the frames, use the same size circle you cut for the window and the next size up circle. Put them both on the gold foil sheet spaced evenly, then run it through your Big Shot. Make an additional frame with whisper white for the inside of the window. Note: if you do not have a magnetic platform for your Big Shot, you can use a small piece of washi tape or a Post-It note to hold the dies evenly as you run it through your machine.
Choose your image. I used image from Petal Palette (item#145788) Using your stamp positioning tool, close your card to determine what part of your image you would like to appear through the window.
Set stamp, open card and the stamp the image on inside of the card using versamark, memento black and then applying clear emboss powder and heat set. Note: when embossing in “colors” always apply versamark first to your stamp, then add the color to stamp and clear emboss. This keeps you from contaminating your versamark pads.
Remove your card from stamp positioner and place your vellum in positioner to line up with the stamp. Stamp image with versamark only and add clear emboss power & heat set. NOTE: when embossing on vellum, be sure to keep your heat tool at a reasonable distance and moving constantly to avoid burning or warping the vellum.
Insert your embossed vellum sheet into your card , embossed side up, and line up the images. With the card closed and the image aligned, lightly draw a circle with a pencil through the window onto your vellum. Remove vellum and with a circle die slightly larger that window opening, cut your vellum. Pencil marks easily erased if they are showing in your window.
Turn your vellum over so that the embossed side is down and color backside of your image using the Stampin Blends (item# 147475). Note: on vellum be sure to allow your markers a little more time to dry before handling to avoid smearing.
Open your card, align your vellum piece on the black embossed image with the vellum embossed side up. Apply a couple of glue dots on the inside of the window opening. When you close the card onto the vellum piece it will then be attached and lined up and you can add the white window frame you made to secure the vellum to the window opening.
On the outside of the card, now install your gold window frame.
Greeting was embossed in gold on a small piece of vellum and a small strip of designer paper attached to it, both attached to card with dimensionals. Glitter dots and small butterflies added. I also added a small touch of Wink Of Stella to the flowers for a little shimmer.
Choose your inside greeting and black emboss it so it matches the image inside. Note: be sure when you add your greeting that it does not show through the window.
