P retty birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and doily pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer and Paper Snips:
- card from Coastal Cabana Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 3-3/8" from Gorgeous Grape Cardstock
- 2-5/8" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 3-1/2" from Coastal Cabana Cardstock
- half a Coastal Cabana doily from Colored Doilies
Place the Pear Pizzazz rectangle inside the Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the card stock inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Adhere the dry embossed Pear Pizzazz rectangle to the front of the Coastal Cabana card.
As you are ready to stamp on each piece of cardstock using the Varied Vases stamps, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the outline, tall, bushy flower stem image from the Varied Vases Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad. Stamp it on the left side of the 2-5/8" square so the flowers are close to the top and left edges. Leave the stamp on the block to use again in a later step.
Mount the matching bunch of solid, tiny flowers image from the Varied Vases Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Gorgeous Grape Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped stem image. Slightly rotate and shift the stamp and stamp again without re-inking.
Mount the outline, curving spray of orchids stem image from the Varied Vases Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad. Stamp it just to the right of the previously stamped stem so the curve of flowers almost touches the right side of the square and the flowers are just below the previously stamped flowers.
Mount the solid, curve of orchids image from the Varied Vases Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Coastal Cabana Ink Pad. Stamp it over the previously stamped orchid spray.
Use the Highland Heather Marker fine tip to color in the centers of the two largest orchids.
Adhere the stamped white square to the upper part of the Gorgeous Grape rectangle so about 1/16" of Gorgeous Grape shows on the top, left, and right sides and about 5/8" shows below the white square.
Mount the outline large vase image from the Varied Vases Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Coastal Cabana Ink Pad. Stamp it upside down on the bottom of the long strip of Whisper White THICK Cardstock.
Tip: If you stamp the vase image upside down, it it easier to line it up in the punch for punching.
Tip: Using the Thick Cardstock when you are going to watercolor makes it less likely that the cardstock will warp because of the watercoloring.
Unlock the Vases Builder Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped vase image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding large vase punching area. Punch.
Squeeze the lid of the Coastal Cabana Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Use a Blender Pen to pick up some ink from the puddle in the lid and color in the bottom of the vase punch out as water. Pick up more ink from the pad lid as needed. Remember to stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the card stock could start to pill and tear. Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen until no more color is coming off.
Locate Block H with the outline, tall, bushy flower stem image from the Varied Vases Set on it. Re-ink the stamp with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad. Stamp the bottom of the stem inside the vase punch out so the bottom of the stem is in the water you colored in.
Adhere the vase punch out to the stamped white square so the stem lines up with the stem of the outline, tall, bushy flower stem image and the bottom of the vase is even with the bottom of the white square.
Mount the small, solid vase image from the Varied Vases Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Gorgeous Grape Ink Pad. Stamp it upside down on the bottom of the long, thin piece of Whisper White Cardstock.
Tip: If you stamp the vase image upside down, it it easier to line it up in the punch for punching.
Unlock the Vases Builder Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped vase image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding small vase punching area. Punch.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the punched out small vase to the stamped white square so it covers the bottom of the orchid spray stem and overlaps the other vase image a bit on the right side and the bottom of the vase is even with the bottom of the white square.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Coastal Cabana/copper 1/8" Ribbon from the Tea Room Ribbon Combo Pack.
Lay the ribbon across the grape and stamped white cardstock layers so the ribbon covers the seam between the two layers at the bottom. Flip the cardstock over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
If you haven't already done so, cut a Coastal Cabana doily from the Colored Doilies in half. Adhere one half to the back of the Gorgeous Grape rectangle so it sticks out at the bottom. Put the other half away to use on a future project.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the Gorgeous Grape layer. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is centered.
Mount either the "Birthday Wishes," "Thanks," or "Hello" sentiment from the Varied Vases Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Gorgeous Grape Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Coastal Cabana strip.
Unlock the Classic Label Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped piece of cardstock into the punch and get the sentiment centered in the punching area. Punch.
Adhere the punched out sentiment to the center of the Gorgeous Grape layer under the ribbon.
Cut a 3" piece of the Coastal Cabana/copper 1/8" Ribbon from the Tea Room Ribbon Combo Pack.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon on the card front and tie it in place using a half knot on the right side. Trim the ends.
