S uper fun & interactive Valentines card using the fun Barn Door Bundle. (Note: If mailing, may cost additional postage due to the weight of the washers)
Project Recipe
Cut your pieces:
Card: Rose Red, Cut 8.5" x 5.5" (Score at 4.25")
Card Front: Rose Red, Cut 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
Card Inside: Whisper White, Cut 5.25" x 4"
Under Barn Door: Whisper White, Cut 4" x 2.25"
Getting the Card Front Ready:
A) Cut the Rose Red Card Front with the slider die. Be sure to leave a little extra room at the top to adhere your black accessory pieces. (But not too close to the bottom because you'll need to use your dimensional strips to adhere the card front to the card base.)
B) Emboss the rose red card front using the simple stripes embossing folder.
Cut your black accessory pieces:
1 track/bar
2 wheels
1 handle bar
Stamp/Cut your barn door:
A) Stamp Your Barn Door using Soft Suede ink pad on Crumb Cake card stock.
B) Use the door die cut to cut out your barn door.
Make it Slide:
a) Take 4 of your washers and adhere a mini dimensional to the middle.
B) Place the washer under the card front with the dimensional sticking through the middle. Place a second washer on top of the dimensional sandwiching it between the washers. It should now slide along the cut out.
C) Repeat, allowing 2 on the top slider and 2 on the bottom slider.
(I've shown all 3 steps in the one picture)
*Note: The Stampin' Up! video uses a size 6 washer. I personally find the size 8 to be easier to work with. I have also heard of demos using cut out cardstock circles instead of washers. I just may have to give this a try one day. ;-)
Attach Your Door:
A) Apply glue dots to the 2 left side washers. (I like to do two glue dots on each to make sure my door is good and secure).
B) Move your left side washers all the way to the left. Allign and attach the barn door to the left side washers.
C) Repeat for the Right Side moving the two right side washers all the way to the right of the sliders.
Your barn door should now slide freely across the card.
Attach the Card Front:
A) Turn over your card front and adhere dimensional strips. We want to make sure the door continues to slides freely
B) Attach to the card base. Make sure the larger space is at the top of your card so you have room for the black "track" (We'll be attaching it in the next step).
Add your door accessories and decorate:
I find its easiest to use the fine-tip glue pen to adhere the black door pieces.
Using the barn door bundle, I stamped the wreath in emerald envy, and the wreath's large flower in rose red, then cut them both out. I covered the center of the flower with a rhinestone jewel (Did you know these can be turned to any color using the Stampin' Blends?! FUN!)
To make the heart I used Pink Pirouette Cardstock and used a heart die from the new Lots to Love Die Set.
Finish it up:
Front: on the 4" x 2.25" whisper white sheet, add your sentiments/decor. I used the sentiment and heart stamps from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set using Soft Suede, Rose Red, and Pink Pirouette inks.
Inside: Decorate (optional). I used the heart from Ribbon of Courage in Rose Red.
Envelope: To add a little extra fun, I decorated the envelope as well. ;-)
