W ith February just a couple weeks away, I wanted to focus on Valentine's Day. In our new Occations Catalog we have a lovely set that's just perfect! The "Sure Do Love You" stamps paired with the "Lots to Love Box" Framelits, and the "Painted With Love Specialty DSP" are just amazing! This is one of the Make n' Take projects I'm doing in my next workshop.
Project Recipe
So let's begin with everything you need for both the card and the candy box.
2- Painted with Love DSP cut to 4 1/4" x 6 1/2".
1- Whisper White cut to 3" x 6" & 1- 4"x
1- Window sheet cut to 2 1/2" x 3"
1- 8" Length of Berry Burst Metallic ribbon
2- 3" Lengths of Mini gold Sequin trim
18" or so of Gold Thread
Part 1: The Candy Box
Using the Painted With Love DSP, cut out 2 of the Box pieces from the Lots of Love framelits. On the second one, place the heart die in the center before running through the Big Shot to make a window. Follow the score lines and fold, using your bone folder for sharp folds.
Take the piece that has the heart window in it, and use Snail Tape all around it, then place the piece of Window sheet you cut out and press it down firmly.
Add Tear Tape to both flaps of the box with the window as shown.
Remove the paper from the tape and line up the front and back box pieces. One will be facing up, and one down as shown. Once you line up and over lap the side flaps, do the same with the opposite side.
Fold in both ends of the box
The candy box is now ready to decorate!
Take the 4x6 Whisper white paper and Stamp the ribbon sentiment in Berry Burst, the little hearts in Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, and Powder Pink , and some leaves in Lemon Lime Twist.
Using the corresponding dies, cut out all the pieces.
Make a small bow with the Berry burst ribbon.
Now put Dimentionals on the back of all the pieces. Note: I use glue dots for attaching the sequins and Bow to the box.
Now you can decorate the Box as shown.
Part 2: The Card
Take the 3" x 6" Whisper white, score it at 3" and then fold, burnishing the edge with your bone folder. Now pick one of the small hearts and Powder Pink ink, Randomly stamp on the front of the card. Note: Having the stamps go off the edges of the paper here and there give the card a more finished look.
Next, do the same with the other 2 little heart stamps, one in Melon Mambo and one in Calypso Coral.
You can also do this to the front of the 3x3 Envelope if you so choose.
Taking the heart that was cut out of the box to make a window, and one of the small hearts you stamped & cut out, add dimensionals to the back. At this time you can also curl up your gold thread and attach it to the back of the heart with a glue dot as shown.
Stick the big heart and one of the little ones to the front of the card as shown. You can move the thread around a bit until you like how it looks.
With the bigger heart stamp in the set, open the card, and stamp it in Powder Pink ink.
Finally, you can stamp the heart shaped sentiment in Berry Burst ink, on top of the Heart you just stamped, and you are finished!
Fill the box with candy or what ever little item you'd like, and you have a beautiful gift for Valentine's day!
