T
his card is inspired by a card created by Wendy Cranford.
I’ve used a scalloped oval die to cut the opening in the cardstock for a peek at a beach scene.
I created a night sky by using daubers and adding colors for the horizon, night sky and put the die cut palm trees to complete the tropical feel. A welcome signt in the middle of winter up here in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.
Project Recipe
My card base is Whisper White, 4.25 “ X 11” scored and folded at 5.5”
Adhere DSP (designer series paper) cut at 4” X 5.25” to the front of the card. I used Tombow multi-purpose glue, allow time for the glue to dry.
Using the scalloped oval die in the size your prefer, cut through both the front of the card with the DSP on it. (That’s why its important to wait for the glue to dry.)
I used markers to ink the palm tree stamp, I used Mossy Meadow for the fronds and Early Espresso for rthe tree trunks. Ink up the stamp then “huff” on it to make sure the ink is moist enough to stamp onto your whisper white scrap of paper. Cut with the palm tree die.
Using a 4 1/8th “ X 5 3/8” piece of whisper white card stock, use your inks to create a horizon by placing post it notes on the top and bottom leaving room to apply So Saffron (or another color you prefer) for your horizon. With a 1” circle I cut out a piece to mask for the sun/moon, then proceeded to move the bottom post it up so some of the horizon would stay true to the color I applied. I used darker colors for the night sky, being careful to start off the paper and working toward the center; start with the l ighter colors, then progresively add darker colors. I moved my post it down when i used greens for the lower part of the page. I adhered the palm trees using regular and mini dimensionls, I also colored in a bit of ground for the trees to appear grounded. This was confusing to try to explain - sorry about that!
Wink of Stella is my friend! I thought the night sky needed a bit of something so painted it with Wink of Stella. I do love a bit of sparkle!
I die cut Aloha with the die from the Tropical Oasis bundle usig the black foil paper. I added an embelishment, a pineapple, below it.
Tie a bow with the the Scalloped Lace Trim and adhere to the front using glue dots.
