Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Daffodil Delight Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1" x 4-1/4" from diagonal yellow and orange stripes on white background design from Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper
- 2-3/8" x 3" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 2-7/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 2-3/4" from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
Lightly spritz the Crumb Cake rectangle with water and insert into the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine. Set aside to dry.
Mount the single, standing meerkat image from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the lower left corner of the horizontal white rectangle. Leave a little room beneath his feet.
Mount the meerkat popping up from a hole image from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the horizontal white rectangle just to the right of the previously stamped meerkat. Leave a little room beneath the image.
Mount the cactus image from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the horizontal white rectangle. Leave a little room beneath the image.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the desert scene stamped white rectangle on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light Soft Suede and Dark and Light Crumb Cake Markers to color in the meerkats.
Use the Dark and Light Old Olive Markers to color in the base of the cactus.
Use the Dark and Light Daffodil Delight Markers to color in the flowers on the cactus.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede and Dark and Light Crumb Cake Markers to color in the ground. Draw in any empty spaces left by the stamped images as needed
Use the Color Lifter Marker to remove any excess color as needed..
Adhere the stamped and colored desert scene to the Old Olive rectangle.
Mount the "Happy Birthday to a Stand-Up Friend" sentiment from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block B. Ink up only the words "Happy Birthday" using the brush tip of the Old Olive Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment in the center of the Daffodil Delight strip.
Pick out the short, skinny die with decorative ends from the Ornate Frames Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered. Run through the tool. Use the Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick tool to remove the pieces if needed.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut off the decorative ends on either side of the sentiment cut out.
Unlock the Banner Triple Punch. Slide one short edge of the strip of Birthday Bonanza Designer Paper into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
If the dry embossed Crumb Cake rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if needed.
Adhere the punched strip of designer paper to the dry embossed Crumb Cake rectangle so it is about 3/4" from the left side and the notches are about 1/2" from the bottom. Use Paper Snips to cut off any excess designer paper along the top edge.
Adhere the dry embossed Crumb Cake rectangle with designer paper attached to the front of the Daffodil Delight card.
Adhere the colored and matted desert scene to the front of the card so it overlaps the right edge of the designer paper banner a bit and is about 3/4" from the top.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut down sentiment cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the upper right corner of the desert scene and the right edge is about 3/4" from the right side of the card.
Cut a 10" piece of the Crumb Cake twine from the Nature's Twine.
Tie a small bow in the center of the twine. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the twine bow to the front of the card at a slight angle in the upper left corner of the desert scene.
