Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card base from Pool Party Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
- card from Basic White Thick Cardstock at 5-1/4" x 8" and scored at 4"
- 3-3/4" x 5" of rows of white dashes on Pool Party background design from Subtles 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, cut so the dashes are vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 1 x 3-1/2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 3-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 1-1/2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Calypso Coral 3/16" Braided Linen Trim.
Lay the ribbon across the vertical designer paper rectangle so it is about 3/4" from the bottom edge. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive. Leave the protective backings in place for now.
As you are ready to stamp using the Sweet Songbirds Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the branch image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on the long skinny Crumb Cake rectangle.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the branch image by hand.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the branch cut out to the designer paper rectangle so the branched end is on the right side and the flat end is on the left side even with the left edge of the designer paper. The branch should be between 1/2" and 3/4" above the ribbon on the designer paper. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off any excess branch on the left edge as needed.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the designer paper rectangle. Adhere the designer paper rectangle with ribbon and branch attached to the front of the Basic White Thick card.
Pick out the circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies that cuts out a 2-1/8" circle. Put it on top of the card front ONLY on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the circle is about 3/4" from the top edge and about 5/8" from the left edge. Run through the machine a couple of times to make sure you cut through both the cardstock and designer paper layers.
Note: You are using the card with the circle cut out of the front for this project. Recycle the cut out circle or save it to use on another project.
Mount the "you've got something to celebrate" sentiment from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the inside of the card making sure it can't be seen through the circle cut out when the card is closed.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment you are using on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the inside of the card about 3" from the top making sure it can't be seen through the circle cut out when the card is closed.
Mount the nest image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the larger remaining Crumb Cake rectangle. Leave the stamp on the block.
Uses Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the nest image by hand.
Turn the cut out nest over so the stamped side is face down. Re-ink the nest image on Block C with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on the back of the cut out nest.
Use a small amount of Stampin' Seal along the bottom of the back of the double-sided stamped nest cut out to adhere the nest cut out to the front of the card so the bottom of the nest overlaps the cut out branch image a bit and the top of the nest is centered over the bottom of the circle cut into the card front.
Mount the wood plank image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining, small Crumb Cake rectangle.
Mount the "a little bird told me..." sentiment from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the stamped wood plank image.
Uses Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the stamped sign wood plank image by hand.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the wood plank sign cut out to the front of the card so it is centered over the ribbon in the lower right corner.
Mount the set of three musical notes from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the front of the card just to the right of the circle cut out in the upper right corner.
Mount the large bird looking to the right image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the horizontal 1-3/4" x 3-1/4" white strip, leaving room to punch it out.
Unlock the Songbird Builder Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped bird image into the punch and get it centered in the bird punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Mount the set of two small circles image or the set of two half circles image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bird punch out at a very slight angle just above and centered over the beak to make the eyes that are either open or closed.
Use the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker to color in the bird's beak.
Mount the large wing image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the white strip, leaving room to punch it out. Make sure the pointed end is pointing up.
Hold the unlocked Songbird Builder Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped wing image into the punch and get it centered in the large wing punching area. Punch.
Use a small amount of Stampin' Seal on the fatter end of the wing punch out to adhere the wing punch out to the bird punch out as shown.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the assembled bird punch out on the inside of the card so you can see the bird through the circle cut in the card front but the bottom of the bird is hidden by the nest cut out.
Slide the bird punch out up just about 1/4".
Mount the bird feet pointing to the right image from the Sweet Songbirds Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on the inside of the card just above the birthday sentiment and just below the bird punch out so it will be centered under the bird.
Now, use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the assembled bird punch out in place to the inside of the card so the bottom of the bird covers the tops of the stamped feet and you can still see the bird through the circle cut in the card front but the bottom of the bird is hidden by the nest cut out.
Cut a 3" piece of the Calypso Coral 3/16" Braided Linen Trim.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card front on the right side of the wood plank sign cut out. Tie in place with a half knot. Trim and fray the ends.
Adhere the assembled card to the center of the Pool Party card base.
