T his is my first sampler and I am really pleased with the overall look of it. I used the Sailing Home Stamp Set along with the coordinating Designer Series paper. I have to say I am pretty pleased with my effort.
Project Recipe
Paper cutting
Back
Whisper White Card stock cut at 9" x 9"
Designer Series Paper (DSP) at 7 x 7"
Squares
Whisper White - cut 2 x 2 "
Night of Navy - cut 2 1/8" x 2 1/8"
Rectangle
Whisper White - cut 2" x 4 1/4"
Night of Navy - cut at 2 1/8 x 4 5/8"
Leaving a 1" border around, I glued the DSP to the centre of the Whisper White backing. Although you cannot see a lot of it, the backing has a sailing theme to it. I just love it.
Each square and the rectangle were then stamped from the Sailing Home Stamp set using Night of Navy ink. The centre square was also cut from the DSP and all squares were matted using Tom bow liquid glue. I love the combination of Navy Blue with the brownish DSP.
After positioning all the squares (I eyeballed it) I glued them down and then added the trinkets. I cut out the Wheel and the compass needle from coordinating die's and my big shot. I then adhered them to the the picture using mini dimmensionals (even then I had to trim then down).
Finally, I fuzzy cut three swallows from the the bird ballad DSP and adhered them using mini dimensional to make the appear like they were flying.
In hindsight, because I always look to see what I could do better the next time.
I would cut out the wheel in Night of Navy card stock so it is better highlighted.
I would also change the sentiments around so that the sentiment "Set Sail in the direction of your dreams" was at the top and "Let hope be your anchor though the storms of Life" be at the bottom.
After all Dreams should fly and the anchor is our home and/or family which keeps us centred or anchored. It should be at the bottom.
Anyways, I hope you like it.
Until next time
Sue
