S
everal stamp sets are used to create a seafaring sailboat. This card can be used for many occasions...birthday, thinking of you, congratulations, etc.
Inspiration for this card came from fellow SU! demonstrator, Lynn Creech :)
Project Recipe
Measurements:
Balmy Blue Card Stock
- 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored @ 4 1/4"
- 5 1/4" x 4" for front panel
Night of Navy Card Stock
- 4 1/2' x 3 1/4"
Basic White Card Stock
- 4 1/4" x 3"
- 5 1/4" x 4" - inside panel
- 2" x 2" scrap for circle die
- 2" x 3" scrap for sailboat die
Metallic Mesh Ribbon - 8"
Burnish the scoreline on the Balmy Blue 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" cardstock with a bone folder.
Take the Balmy Blue 5 1/4" x 4" piece and run it through the Stamp & Emboss machine using the Bark 3D Embossing Folder.
Wrap the Metallic Mesh ribbon around the lower portion of the embossed Balmy Blue panel and adhere the ends to the back using strong double-sided tape.
Then adhere this to the Balmy Blue card front. I like to use liquid glue when attaching anything that's been embossed so that the glue gets into all the nooks and crannies. You can use double-sided tape as well, as long as it's a strong bonding tape.
Take the 5 1/4" x 4" Basic White card stock panel and stamp the sentiment and the compass image using Smoky Slate ink.
Adhere the stamped panel to the inside of the card.
Stamp Happy Birthday on the circle die-cut using Smoky Slate ink. Then stamp the seagulls using Balmy Blue ink. Set this piece aside as it will be the last thing we add to the card front.
Stamp the large sailboat on the scrap piece of Basic White using Black Memento ink. Then die-cut using the sailboat die. Trim off the bottom of the die to remove the water piece, you only want the bottom of the sailboat.
Color the sailboat using the blends. Set the sailboat aside.
Take the 4 1/4" x 3" Basic White card stock and using Night of Navy ink, stamp the bottom of the panel using the background stamp from the Artistically Inked stamp set. You'll stamp this repeatedly to fill in the waterline look.
Stamp the seagulls in the upper left-hand portion of the panel using Balmy Blue Ink.
Adhere the stamped panel to the Night of Navy cardstock. Using dimensionals, attach that to the card front.
Apply several dimensionals to the said boat and attach it to the card front.
Apply adhesive to the back of the Happy Birthday circle, but only apply it to the left-hand side because some of the right side will hang over the raised image panel.
Add a little Wink of Stella to the sails on the sailboat.
Your card is finished!
NOTE - you can also apply Wink of Stella to the water portion of the card. It will darken the ink and give it a nice shine!
