T his is one of the prettiest "nature scene cards I can remember making...I cased this card from a sample I found online but changed it up a bit using the stamps I had available and sponging on color instead of using the brayering technique..very quick & easy card . I can almost smell the pine trees, how about you?
Project Recipe
Cut a circle from Whisper White cardstock using the largest circle from the stitched circle framelets.
2) use pencil to lightly mark the spots along the sides of the lower third of the circle where you want the water for the lake to be.
3. Tear a mask of lightweight typing paper (not cardstock) at least as wide as the circle to use as a mask. I liked the natural look obtained by having a slightly irregular torn edge. Hold or "tack" the mask in place with the torn edge at the top.
4) use a small wedge of stamping sponge lightly inked with Blueberry Bushel ink and tap off lightly then make light circles from the edge of mask down to the bottom edge of the circle moving from from one side to the other. Go light, you can always add more but you can't erase. Famous last words, right? if you have to reink the sponge it's ok, just tap off lightly before restarting the sponging.
5) Once you are satisfied with the blue of the lake move on to build the beach shoreline area. Change to a clean sponge and Crumb Cake ink.
Flip the mask over so the edges up and line up the torn edges line up and cover the blue water then lightly sponge the beach area and then remove the mask.
6) Time for the trees! Used the funky looking tall tree with the long trunk first. You can choose whatver green you like for the pine tree..I went with Shaded Spruce.
Remove any remaining masks from the card and figure out where you want to place your trees. I chose to put the taller tree with the long bare trunk on the left side of the circle so it was overlaping the edge of the white circle with a little bit onto the white card base.(see photo) Follow the picture for positioning. Position the sponged white circle so the top edge is at the upper center of the blank White rectangle about 1.5 to 2 inches from the of the white rectangle.
Now ink the funky tree with the Shaded Spruce ink on the leafy part of treetop and use an Early Espresso marker to ink up the tree trunk in brown before stamping the taller tree. (*Make sure that some of the upper part of the tree is stamped off the edge of the circle onto the white base as shown in photo. )
Stamp the smaller single pine tree on opposite side of the beach using same ink colors. You can also stamp some trees on the inside along with any desired sentiment.
once you have the circle stamped , sponge blue very lightly in the sky and a bit more beavily around the stitched edges around all edges of the stitched circle.
Adhere the stamped and sponged edge circle in upper center of cardfront and adhere. make sure you line up the tree with the portion stamped off the edge.
Stamp desired greeting (I used You are Wonderful) to make a thank you card but "thinking of you" can also fit.
You can leave inside blank for a handwritten note or choose another sentiment for the inside. I stamped a couple of pine trees inside. and left room for a handwritten note. photo below.
Assemble the card with white circle aligned to match up with the stamped off edge of tree as in photo.
Layer top white piece on silver layer then adhere that to the blue base of card.
Here's where I added some trees on the inside of card leaving room for a handwritten message or sentiment of your choice.
Adhere the stamped white circle to the front white piece then attach that to the silver layer and finally to the folded blue layer.
Adhere 4" x5.25"iwhite panel insert on inside of card. Hope you have enjoyed the card!
