Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
- 2" x 5" of light green and dark green plaid design from Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper
- 2-7/8" x 4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-5/8" x 3-3/4" from Early Espresso Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-5/8" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Very Vanilla Cardstock
Place the Buffalo Check background stamp rubber side up on Grid Paper on your work surface . Ink up the stamp by pouncing or rubbing the Shaded Spruce Ink Pad all over it. Leave the inked up stamp face up on your work surface. Carefully place the Shaded Spruce rectangle on the stamp. Fold the Grid Paper up and over the top of everything and rub firmly all over. Using the Grid Paper protects your hands from getting ink on them.
Tip: I just clean my background stamps by running them under water until the water runs clear. Then, I let them air dry.
Adhere the stamped Shaded Spruce rectangle to the front of the Old Olive card.
Adhere the Old Olive rectangle to the front of the card so it is even with the top and bottom of the stamped Shaded Spruce layer and about 1/2" in from the left side of the card.
Unlock the Banner Triple Punch. Slide one end of the strip of Under the Mistletoe Designer Paper into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
Adhere the punched strip of the designer paper to the center of the card front so the notch is on the right and the left, flat edge is even with the left edge of the Shaded Spruce layer.
Carefully remove a magnet from the back of the Stamparatus and place it on your work surface. Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one of the plates into the hinges on the right side of the Stamparatus.
Place the large vanilla rectangle somewhere on the base of the Stamparatus so the top of the rectangle is against the top of the base. Use the magnet to hold the cardstock in place. Position the cypress tree stamp from the Rooted In Nature Set on the vanilla rectangle so the stamp is image side down centered on the rectangle from side to side and as close to the top as possible. Close the plate onto the stamp and press firmly to make sure it is stuck to the plate.
As you prepare to ink up the stamp on the Stamparatus plate each time, place the stamp case under the Stamparatus plate to give it some firmness as you ink up the stamp.
If you have a Stampin' Spot in the color you want to stamp with, then use it to ink up the stamp each time. This will help avoid getting ink on the plate where you don't want it.
If you do get ink on the plate, then wipe it off with a baby wipe, tissue, or paper towel before closing the plate to stamp to avoid getting excess ink on your project piece where you don't want it.
Ink up the top portion of the stamp only (the leaves) using the Old Olive Ink Pad. Close the plate onto the vanilla rectangle and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Use the Early Espresso Marker to color in the trunk of the tree image where it shows through the leaves and under the leaves. Close the plate onto the vanilla rectangle and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Use the brush tip of the Shaded Spruce Marker to randomly thump lines of dark green all around on the leaves of the tree image. Close the plate onto the vanilla rectangle and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Remove the stamped vanilla rectangle from the Stamparatus and adhere it to the Early Espresso rectangle. Then, adhere it to the front of the card so it is centered in the strip of Old Olive.
Mount the "Be strong. Be happy. Be you." sentiment from the Rooted In Nature Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small square of Very Vanilla Cardstock.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut out each of the sentiment strips.
Use Mini Glue Dots (squish in the edges) to adhere the sentiment strips to the base of the tree image rectangle at differing angles.
Pick out a button from the Galvanized Buttons. Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere it to the card front on the bottom right side of the main image where it overlaps the designer paper banner.
Cut a 3" piece of 3/16" Braided Linen Trim. Tie a half knot in the center. Fray the ends. Trim the ends. Adhere the knot to the top of the button using a Mini Glue Dot.
