Watercolor Thank You Swap Card |
|
T his is the second card I made for my swaps for On Stage Atlanta. This card is CASE'd from a card done by Billie Moan (Ramblingrosestudio.com). I used different colors, stamps and techniques but she supplied the inspiration. So, Thank you Billie!

This is the card that inspired my card. I thought you should be able to see it!
I started with a card base of Very Vanilla (5.5 x 8.5, scored at 4.25). I topped that with a layer of Soft Suede card stock cut to 5-3/8" x 4-1/8". The next layer is Mint Macaron (5.25 x 4") that I stamped with the Hardwood stamp in Soft Suede. I then used my sponge dauber and sponged Soft Suede around all the edges. I took a Stampin' Sponge wedge and lightly sponged Soft Suede ink all over the top.
The next layer is Soft Suede cut to 4-3/8 x 2-7/8" and topped with another layer of Very Vanilla (4.25 x 2.75"). I stamped the swirls on the card using the Tin of Cards stamp set and Soft Suede ink. To make the ones on the ends, I had to ink up only a portion of the stamp to do each corner and then match up the straight sides. Good thing the stamps are photopolymer! so clear and easy to see to match up those lines. I then stamped the sentiment from the Tin of Cards.
To make the flower I stamped the large rose from the Birthday Blooms in StaZon on watercolor paper. I then colored the flower using the inks that pool in the tops of the ink pads and my Aquapainter. The colors used were Flirty Flamingo, Mint Macaron and Crushed Curry. I watered down the ink as much as I could because I wanted a pale wash. You could also use a drop or two of reinker in a dish and add a few drops of water to dilute. I didn't try to cover all the space in the flower--I left some areas plain and added a little more color to the areas I felt needed to be darker.
The final step to coloring the rose was to add clear Wink of Stella to the yellow center. A little bling is always a good thing, right?
I cut out the flower and added it to the card using dimensionals.
I hope you enjoyed this card. I love to water color and this card makes me smile. It was a lot of work doing 36 of these for my swaps but I am happy with how they turned out.
