Timeless Tulips Spiral Flower card |
|
T he spiral flowers on these cards were made using the the leaf from the Tulip Builder punch and some color coordinated DSP and cardstock.
The spiral flowers on both of these cards were made from the leaf in the Tulip Builder punch, which coordinates with the Timeless Tulips stamp se). But we won't be using the stamp set - just the punch
Using your paper trimmer, cut a piece of colored cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".
Burnish folded edge with a bone folder for a crisp edge.
Cut the white card layer from Basic White thick cardstock measuring 5 1/4" x 4".
The Designer Series Paper I used to punch out the flower petals was Fine Art Floral. However, you can use whatever pretty floral or patterned paper you have on hand.
Line up the paper under the leaf part of the punch and punch out as many as you can.
Switch up the paper to coordinating DSP or colored cardstock.
Keep punching until you have a pile of petals (no specific number)
Punch out a circle on any color cardstock or even a piece of cardboard using the 1 1/8" scalloped punch.
Using the circle as a base, begin adhering the petals using Stampin Seal as shown in the photo.
Keep adhering the petals until you go all the way around.
Now flip it over and do the same thing, but make sure the petals are all facing in the same direction as the front. And make sure the paper pattern looks the way you want before you glue down each petal.
Adhere the finished flower to the white layer toward the left. Some of the petals should overhang the left side of the paper. Turn the paper over and trim off those petals, using the edge of the card as a guide.
The card front will look a little off center not to mention kind of plain, so what I did to spruce it up is that I happened to have two leftover die cut pieces that I had cut out with the Curvy dies for another project, so I merely adhered those pieces to the right of each card front.
Doing that meant I had a very visible seam right down the middle of the card, so I cut a strip of colored cardstock 5 1/4" x 1/2" and glued it over the seam. Problem solved and it gives the card some additional visual interest.
To create a center for the flower, punch out a circle using the 1 1/8" scalloped circle punch from Melon Mambo or Coastal Cabana cardstock (depending on what color card you're making.
Using the Small Bloom punch, punch out a flower from either Fine Art Floral DSP or colored cardstock.
For the flower center, I attached a small paper flower from the Boho Indigo refill kit and used a mini glue dot to set it in place.
I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and punched it out with the Timeless Label punch. I also punched out a 2nd label in a coordinating paper and then adhered the white piece on top of the colored piece a bit off center so the colored layer showed.
I then adhered some gemstones to the labels.
