Sweet Conversations Happy Heart Backpacks |
C ute candy treat holders made with Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 2 pieces each 5" x 5-1/2" from Real Red Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 5" x 5-1/2" of the same pattern from Sweet Talk 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, if there is a directional pattern, cut so the pattern is horizontal on the horizontal rectangle
- 2-1/4" x 2-3/4" from coordinating cardstock (I used Blushing Bride and Petal Pink)
- 1-1/2" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 3" from Real Red Cardstock
- 2" x 6-1/2" from Real Red Cardstock
Use Stampin' Seal+ to adhere the designer paper rectangles to the large Real Red rectangles.
Pick out the half a backpack/purse die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of the designer paper/Real Red rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the designer paper side is face up. If there is a directional pattern, make sure the pattern will be right side up when the half backpack/purse piece is cut out. Run through the machine. Repeat with the other designer paper/Real Red rectangle.
Use the Bone Folder to fold the two pieces on all score lines.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the thin flap on the side of one of the half backpack/purse pieces over the designer paper. Remove the protective backing and adhere the edge of the large front/back panel of the other half backpack/purse piece to the thin flap so the tops are equal.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the thin flap on the side of the second half backpack/purse piece over the designer paper. Remove the protective backing and adhere the edge of the large front/back panel of the other half backpack/purse piece to the thin flap so the tops are equal.
Put strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the cardstock side of one of the bottom flaps. Remove the protective backings and adhere the bottom flaps together to form the bottom of the backpack/purse. Make sure the edges are straight.
As you are ready to stamp using the Sweet Conversations Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "happy to have you in my life" sentiment from the Sweet Conversations Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 2-1/4" x 2-3/4" rectangle of cardstock.
Pick out the pocket die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the bump is on the top of the pocket and the sentiment is centered inside the die. Run through the machine.
Use small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the sides and bottom of the back of the pocket cut out to adhere the pocket to the top of the front of the backpack so the top of the bump is about 1/2" from the dip in the top of the backpack. Make sure there is NO adhesive on the top edge of the pocket cut out.
Mount the largest, solid heart image from the Sweet Conversations Set on Block B. Ink it up with a coordinating color of ink (I used the Real Red and Highland Heather Ink Pads). Stamp off once by stamping on Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it in the center of the white square.
Tip: If you are making multiple treat holders and using different colors of ink, remember to clean your stamp between ink colors using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist and/or Simply Shammy.
Mount the outlined, "UR Cute" heart image from the Sweet Conversations Set on Block B. Ink it up with the same color of ink (I used Real Red and Highland Heather Ink Pads). Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped solid heart image.
Tip: If you are making multiple treat holders and using different colors of ink, remember to clean your stamp between ink colors using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist and/or Simply Shammy.
Pick out the medium-sized, slightly fatter open heart die from the Sweet Hearts Dies. Put it on top of the stamped heart on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the "UR Cute" text. You won't get any of the outline around the edge of the heart. Run through the machine.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the heart cut out to the front of the backpack at a slight angle so it overlaps the lower right corner of the pocket cut out as shown.
Pick out the long, skinny strap die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of one side of the long, skinny red rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Repeat on the other side of the long, skinny red rectangle so you have two long, skinny red straps.
Use the scoring blade on the Paper Trimmer to score at the 1" mark on both ends of both strap cut outs.
Fold the strap cut outs on the score lines.
Put a small piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the 1" scored end of one of the straps. Remove the protective backing and adhere the folded end of the strap to the top edge of one side of the back of the backpack. Bend the remaining strap down.
Put a small piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the 1" scored end one the other end of the strap. Remove the protective backing and adhere the folded end of the strap to the bottom edge on the back of the backpack. The strap should bow out a bit.
Repeat the last two steps above with the other strap on the other side of the back of the backpack.
Fill the backpack with treats (I used small bags of M&Ms). Pinch the top of the backpack closed.
Pick out the shorter, rounded end strap die from the All Dressed Up Dies. Put it on top of the remaining skinny red rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
WITHOUT USING ANY ADHESIVE, tuck one end of the short strap cut out into the top of the pocket cut out on the front of the backpack as far down as it will go. Pinch the top of the backpack closed and fold the strap over the top of the backpack so it is centered in the dip.
Put a small piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back portion of the top closure strap. Remove the protective backing. Pinch the top of the backpack closed and adhere the back of the top closure strap in place.
You should be able to open the top of the backpack by sliding the front end of the top closure strap out of the pocket.
