Santa's Helpers Edge-Cut Card |
|
T his Edge-Cut Card fits nicely into a C6 Envelope. These instructions work for both the Santa's List and Santa's Helpers version, you just use different dies and stamps from the bundle.
Take a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock measuring 4" x 7 3/4" (10.2cm x 19.7cm) and with the long side at the top, score at 3 7/8" (9.8cm). Fold and burnish the score line then put to one side.
Take a piece of Shaded Spruce Cardstock measuring 4" x 5 7/8" (10.2m x 15cm) and with the long side at the top, make a pencil line across the card at 3 7.8" (9.8cm).
Take the two Elf dies and the Pile of Presents die from the Santa's Signpost Framelits Dies and place them on the Shaded Spruce Cardstock so that the feet and the bottom edge of the presents sit over the pencil mark around the ankle line. Tape these down with some washi tape to stop them from moving.
Make your BigShot sandwich as follows:-
Magnetic Base;
Bottom Cutting Pad;
Cardstock with dies face-up;
Top Cutting Pad - line this up so that you can see the pencil line under the lipped edge of the cutting pad, about halfway through the raised edge (see photo).
Hold the sandwich together as you feed it into your BigShot so that the Top Cutting Plate doesn't move.
When you remove the dies, the cut image should look something like the photo - you don't want the bottom edge of each die to be cut through.
Using a craft knife, cut along the pencil line where shown in the photo to release the excess cardstock, leaving your cut out images. Use an eraser to remove the remaining pencil line.
Using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, stamp out the two Elves, the Pile of Presents and the 'Wishing you everything on your list...' stamp onto a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock as shown - make sure you leave space around the second Elf and the greeting for them to be cut out.
Colour your images as shown using the following Stampin' Write Markers:-
Poppy Parade - hat, tunic, spots on gift, ribbon on top of gift
Shaded Spruce - hat, tunic, stripes on gift
Mango Melody - hat trim, belt buckle, middle gift,
Balmy Blue - top gift
Pacific Point - ribbon on top gift
Early Espresso - hair on green elf
Petal Pink - cheeks (after using the Ivory)
and the Ivory Stampin' Blend.- skin
Using the BigShot and the Santa's Signpost Framelits Dies, cut out one of each Elf and the Pile of Presents.
Using the Plain #6 die from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies (I number mine so that #1 is the largest) cut out the remaining Elf so it is in the middle of the circle.
Using the Tailored Tag Punch, cut out the sentiment, ensuring it is centred.
Use the Scalloped #5 die from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies to cut a Scalloped Circle from a scrap of Shaded Spruce Cardstock.
Using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, glue the two Elves and the Gifts to the Shaded Spruce diecut piece, making sure they are properly aligned.
Take a piece of the red & white velvet stripe paper from the Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper measuring 2" x 4 1/2" (5cm x 11.25cm) and using Snail Adhesive, run a line around the edges on the back.
Attach the SDSP Panel to the Shaded Spruce piece, approx 1/2" (1.25cm) up from the bottom edge. Trim the excess paper from the sides.
Run a line of Snail around the edges of the front of the Thick Whisper White Base you prepared at the beginning.
Attach the Shaded Spruce piece to the card base, making sure that the top edge of the green piece (where you made your pencil line) lines up with the fold of the card base, and the sides and bottom edge are all flush. If you have any white showing around the three open edges, use your scissors to trim it away.
Make a bow with a piece of Poppy Parade 1/2" (1.3cm) Textured Weave Ribbon, making the 'ears' so you can just fit your index fingers into them. Pull the ears tights so that the bow doesn't come undone.
Add a Glue Dot to the back of each ear.
Attach two Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of your punched sentiment.
Attach the bow and sentiment to the card as shown in the picture. Trim the ends of the bow at an angle.
Add the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the card as shown.
Using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, attach the Elf in a circle to the green scalloped circle, then attach this to the bottom left corner of the inside of your card.
Using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, stamp '... and more!' from the Signs of Santa Stamp Set as shown.
Your card is now complete so sit back and admire your handiwork.
PS - if you would like to make the Santa's List version, everything is the same except you will use the Santa and Signpost Dies from the Santa's Signpost Framelits and the co-ordinating stamps from Signs of Santa (don't forget to stamp the 'North Pole' onto the Sign!)
Marker and Blends colours are Poppy Parade; Mango Melody; Soft Suede; Petal Pink & Ivory.
The circle image inside is the same as for Santa's Helpers.
