Paradise Palms Framed Palm Birthday |
S ummery birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Soft Succulent Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5"" from Soft Succulent or Pool Party Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5" of green and blue watercolor wash design from Flowering Fields 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 2-1/4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2" x 2-1/4" from Soft Succulent Cardstock
- 1" x 3-1/2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2" square from Soft Succulent Cardstock
- 1" square from Crumb Cake Cardstock
Insert the Pool Party rectangle into the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Pool Party rectangle to the front of the Soft Succulent card.
Adhere the rectangle of Flowering Fields Designer Paper to the same size rectangle of Soft Succulent or Pool Party Cardstock.
Note: You won't see the Soft Succulent or Pool Party Cardstock. It is just there to make the designer paper frame a little sturdier.
Pick out both the stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 3-3/8" x 4-3/4" and the stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 2-3/16" x 3-9/16" from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Put them on top of the designer paper/cardstock rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the smaller rectangle die is centered inside the larger rectangle. Run through the machine.
Tip: You may need to run the sandwich through the die a couple of times to make sure you cut all the way through the layered designer paper/cardstock.
Note: You are using the both the interior rectangle cut out and the frame rectangle cut out on this card, so keep both pieces.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the large rectangle frame cut out to the front of the card in the center.
Try to get some of the light green of the designer paper at the bottom of the smaller, interior rectangle cut out. Mount the grass image from the Paradise Palms Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Soft Succulent Ink Pad. Stamp it across the bottom of the smaller, interior rectangle cut out multiple times. Remember to re-ink the stamp every so often. Let the bottom of the image go off the bottom edge and let the image go off the left and right edges as well.
Mount the "birthday" or "retirement" sentiment from the Paradise Palms Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the smaller, interior rectangle cut out just above the previously stamped grass images.
Mount the slightly curved palm tree trunk image from the Paradise Palms Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the long, thin Crumb Cake rectangle.
Pick out the matching palm tree trunk die from the Palms Dies. Put it on top of stamped palm tree trunk image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the piece if needed.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the palm tree trunk cut out to the stamped, smaller interior rectangle cut out so the bottom of the trunk goes off the bottom left corner of the rectangle a tiny bit.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off the excess trunk in the bottom left corner of the rectangle.
Adhere the stamped and layered interior rectangle cut out to the front of the card so it fits into the center of the designer paper frame cut out.
Mount the larger, fuller palm tree fronds top image from the Paradise Palms Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Soft Succulent Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Soft Succulent square.
Pick out the matching palm tree top die from the Palms Dies. Put it on top of stamped palm tree top image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Use the fine tip of the Evening Evergreen Stampin' Write Marker to add some thin lines of darker green to the fronds of the palm tree top cut out.
Adhere the palm tree top cut out to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals so it is centered over the top of the palm tree trunk cut out.
Mount the set of coconuts image from the Paradise Palms Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it on the small Crumb Cake square.
Pick out the small, matching, set of coconuts die from the Palms Dies. Put it on top of the stamped coconuts image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the coconuts cut out to the front of the card so it is centered over the top of the palm tree trunk near the base of the palm tree top.
Pick out the single, large palm frond die from the Palms Dies. Put it on top of the remaining Crumb Cake rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the piece if needed. Repeat with the remaining Soft Succulent rectangle.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen along the bottoms ONLY of the palm frond cut outs to adhere them to the front of the card so they overlap each other a little as shown in the lower left corner of the designer paper frame cut out.
Cut a 4" piece of the Soft Succulent 1/2" Satin Shimmer Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at a slight angle as shown so it is centered over the stems of the palm frond cut outs.
