Jar of Love, Swirly Scribbles |
|
P retty and subdued, personalize for any occasion. This card was made with a birthday sentiment on the inside. Some items used may be retired, but any coordinating color would work.

Please note, my card as shown was made with Retired Tip Top Taupe. The directions have been updated to the current Crumb Cake paper name.
From the Crumb Cake cardstock, you'll need two pieces of paper sized:
a.) 8.5" x 5.5" (for the card base) score at 4.25" in the center
b.) 3" x 5.5" (emboss this piece)
You can also use a coordinating piece of designer series paper instead of matching cardstock
Whisper White Cardstock, cut the following size:
a.) 3.5" x 3.5" square
b.) You'll need some scrap pieces of Whisper White for die cutting the flowers
3" x 3" Copper Foil sheet (or any coordinating color you would like)
Run the 3" x 3" sheet with the big 'swirl' in the Swirly Scribbles die set.
Cut a piece of ribbon to approximately 5.5" long.
(Tip: cut the 5.5" ribbon just a tad longer, maybe 1/16-1/8" longer than 5.5")
On the scrap pieces of Whisper White cardstock, you want to stamp your flowers and little leaves.
a.) the Jar of Love stamp set has '2-step stamps' for the flowers. I used the same color per flower, however, I did the "stamp-off" method to create contrast.
"Stamp-Off" method:
a.) ink your stamp
b.) stamp a scrap piece of paper (this is the 'stamp-off' part)
c.) stamp your image on the cardstock for a subdued color
For this card, I used:
a.) 2 little green leaves, in Wild Wasabi
b.) 2 'big' flowers, in Calypso Coral
c.) 4 'little' flowers, in Wisteria Wonder
d.) 2 'little' flowers, in So Saffron
After stamping, die-cut out the flowers and leaves
Prepare to stamp on the Whisper White 3.5" x 3.5" cardstock.
a.) Using the die-cut swirl as a guide, do not glue it down yet, but center it where you want it positioned on the white card.
b.) Ink up your sentiment, in black ink
c.) Carefully stamp the sentiment in the center of the die-cut swirl.
ASSEMBLING THE CARD:
Now that all the pieces are prepared, we are ready to assemble the card. You will want the following types of adhesive:
a.) glue pen
b.) Tear-n-Tape
c.) glue dots
Using small pieces of Tear-n-Tape, approximately 1/4" from the fold edge, you want to place the tape in a line to adhere the ribbon. Use a ruler to help 'eyeball' a straight line.
After removing the backing from the Tear-n-Tape, firmly place the ribbon over the tear and tape, approximately 1/4" from the fold-edge.
Smooth, or burnish, the ribbon onto the adhesive. Using sharp scissors, carefully cut the overhanging excess of the ribbon so it is even with the top and bottom edges of the card.
Using your glue or adhesive of choice, place the embossed 3" x 5.5" piece of cardstock over the ribbon.
Depending on what kind of ribbon you chose would probably determine how much of the ribbon you want exposed.
In this card, I chose to expose about 1/8" of the ribbon.
On the 3.5" x 3.5" whisper white cardstock piece, begin assembling the wreath:
a.) glue the swirl down
b.) lay the flower pieces how you want them to appear first. Once you've decided on placement, glue them down (I did not use dimensionals, as the layering effect gave the flowers dimension already.)
Once the wreath assembly is dried, glue/attach it to the card front.
If you'd like, using glue dots, adhere random pieces of sequins around the wreath.
Stamp a sentiment inside, if you'd like!
