H ere is how to create a beautiful yet simple card by layering a variety of evergreen images.
|
Start with the following supplies:
• 8 ½ x 5 ½ Very Vanilla card base scored at 4 ¼
• First layer 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 Mossy Meadow
• Second layer 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 Very Vanilla
I like a really narrow border, if you prefer you can cut the layers at 4 x 5 ¼ and 3 ¾ x 5.
• Black Glitter paper – small piece
• Brushed Copper Foil paper – small piece
• Very Vanilla scrap
Stamp the medium tree on the Very Vanilla layer in Early Espresso but stamp off once first and then stamp twice before re-inking. We just want to create a subtle background.
This is a two step stamp, so you will follow the same process with the fill in stamp and Mossy Meadow ink.
Run this layer through the Stamp N Emboss machine using the Evergreen Forest embossing folder. This folder is not part of the bundle but is well worth the investment.
Next cut medium tree using the Pinewoods dies out of the Black Glitter paper. The glitter DOESN’T COME OFF and it turns out beautifully using the dies.
Cut a large tree from Brushed Copper Foil using the large tree die. You may not even need to do this, but if you use the brush tip for the Take Your Pick tool, make sure to put the foil side down to prevent scratching.
If you are making more than one of this card you can save time by using the Stamparatus for this next part. You can stamp all of the other trees that are going to be cut out at one time. Just line up the step one stamps on the first plate and fold in down, the lay the step two stamps on top of it so they match up with the stamps on the other side. Take your second plate and lightly touch it down to pick up the stamps. You are aligned to go!
Stamp the first step image in Early Espresso and the second step in Mossy Meadow, and then die cut the images.
Tear a narrow strip of Very Vanilla card stock a bit longer than the width of the card. You want the edges to have a jagged look. Once you have the edge you want cut the strip to the width of the top card layer (5 1/8). Emboss this strip using the Evergreen Woods folder then sponge the irregular edge lightly with Early Espresso. You can use a Sponge Dauber or a little piece of sponge. Trim to length.
We are almost ready to put it all together, just a couple more things. You need a piece of the 1/8” metallic copper ribbon about 6” long and a scrap of Very Vanilla for the sentiment 2 ½ x ½, stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso and square off the ends.
Adhere the embossed Very Vanilla layer to the Mossy Meadow layer. I use liquid glue because it is forgiving. If it isn’t perfectly straight you have a little bit of work time before it is stuck. Place the four individual trees on the card front, keeping the bottom of the truck about even. The copper tree goes on with dimensionals, the other two are attached with adhesive. Attach the torn strip at the bottom covering the bottom of the trees so they aren’t floating. Attach the group of trees toward the left side with dimensionals. Wrap the copper ribbon just at the bottom of the smaller tree trunks and use a little bit of adhesive to secure the ends on the back side. You may need to use a glue dot in the center to make sure the ribbon stays were you want it.
Now attach this to the Very Vanilla card base. Add the sentiment at the top with dimensionals and you are ready to admire the lovely card you created.
