Happiest Of Birthdays Plaid Leaf Birthday |
F all themed birthday cards using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Crushed Curry Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of plaid pattern design using yellow from Plaid Tidings 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" from Crushed Curry Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3" from Crushed Curry Cardstock
Optional:
If you choose a pattern with only one color plaid on white, you can alter the paper by brayering on some Crushed Curry Ink. To do so, place the designer paper rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. Roll a Sponge Brayer across the open Crushed Curry Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, roll the inky brayer all over the designer paper rectangle. Repeat until you have the color coverage you want. Get more ink on the brayer as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Brayers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Adhere the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper rectangle to the front of the Crushed Curry card.
Mount the "wishing you the happiest of birthdays" sentiment from the Happiest Of Birthdays Set on Block E. Ink it up with a coordinating color of ink (I used Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce, and Rich Razzleberry). Stamp it as close to the top of the vertical 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" rectangle of Crushed Curry as possible so it is centered side to side.
Pick out the curving line of small leaves and vines die from the Curvy Dies. Put it on top of the stamped rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it will cut leaves and emboss vines into the bottom of the rectangle just below the sentiment. Try to line up the die so the cut out leaves on the right and left sides will be just inside the rectangle. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Note: This die only cuts out the leaves. The vines will be dry embossed onto the cardstock and no cardstock will be cut from the bottom edge of the rectangle.
Pick out the curving line of tiny dots die from the Curvy Dies. Put it on top of the stamped and die cut rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it will cut tiny dots into the bottom of the rectangle just below the die cut leaves and dry embossed vines. Make sure the dots are on the upper side of the die so you cut off the bottom of the rectangle just below the dots. Try to line up the die so it roughly matches the curve of the die cut leaves and dry embossed vines. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the two pieces of the stamped and die cut rectangle on the card front so there is a tiny space between the top and bottom pieces along the cut curve. This will give you an idea of how much cardstock to cut from the bottom of the unstamped, small, curved piece of cardstock so it will fit on the card.
Use the Paper Trimmer to cut the desired amount off from the bottom of the small, unstamped, curved section of the rectangle. It should be about 1/4".
Use Stampin' Seal and either Fine-Tip Glue Pen or Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the top portion of the rectangle (the piece with the stamped sentiment and die cut leaves and dots and dry embossed vines) to the front of the card so it is centered side to side and about 1/4" from the top edge of the card.
Use Stampin' Seal to adhere the small, unstamped, curved section of the rectangle to the bottom of the card so it is just below the top portion of the rectangle with a tiny line of designer paper showing between the two pieces. The bottom of this piece should be about 1/4" from the bottom edge of the card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Beautiful Autumn Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the small outline image of the maple leaf from the Beautiful Autumn Set on Block A. Ink it up with the same color of ink that you used for the sentiment (I used Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce, and Rich Razzleberry). Stamp it on one end of the Crushed Curry strip so the stem is pointing down.
Unlock the maple leaf punch from the Autumn Punch Pack. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped maple leaf image into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the maple leaf punch out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it overlaps the thin line of designer paper showing between the two parts of the sentiment rectangle on the right side. Make sure the stem is pointing towards the center of the card.
Cut a 3" piece of the 3/16" Braided Linen Trim.
Tie a half knot in the center of the trim and trim the ends. Fray the ends of the trim with your fingers.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the frayed trim knot to the front of the card over the top of the stem on the maple leaf punch out.
