Good Morning Magnolia No Line Bloom |
P retty birthday card featuring the no line watercoloring technique and Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from Whisper White Thick Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Mossy Meadow Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5" from Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Mossy Meadow Cardstock
Mount the opening magnolia bloom image from the Good Morning Magnolia Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Sahara Sand Ink Pad. Stamp onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT REINKING, stamp in the lower left corner of the thick white rectangle so the bloom is pointing down and to the left. Leave the stamp on the block.
As you are ready to stamp using the Magnolia Blooms Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put some scratch paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the open magnolia bloom from the Magnolia Blooms Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Sahara Sand Ink Pad. Stamp onto the scratch paper on top of the Mat. WITHOUT REINKING, stamp on the thick white rectangle so the bloom is just above the previously stamped bloom and just to the left of center.
Take the cardstock off the Stampin’ Pierce Mat.
Re-ink the opening magnolia bloom image on Block C with Sahara Sand Ink Pad. Stamp onto the Grid Paper. WITHOUT REINKING, stamp on the thick white rectangle so the bloom is pointing up and is about 1/8” from the top edge and just to the right of center. Don’t worry if some of the stem got on the large magnolia bloom.
Place the thick white rectangle back on some scratch paper on top of the Stampin’ Pierce Mat.
Mount the magnolia bud with leaves from the Magnolia Blooms Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Sahara Sand Ink Pad. Stamp onto the scratch paper on top of the Mat. WITHOUT REINKING, stamp on the thick white rectangle so the bud is just to the right of the previously stamped opening magnolia bloom image and the stem appears to disappear behind the open magnolia bloom.
One at a time, squeeze the lids of the ink pads to get ink in the lids. If needed, add ink to the lids using Ink Refills. One at a time, use the Blender Pen to pick up ink from the pad lids and color in the big open magnolia bloom in the center. Remember to stroke in one direction only or the cardstock will tear and pill up. Remember to scribble on Grid Paper in between colors until no more color is coming off the Blender Pen.
Use the following colors:
So Saffron – for petals
Mossy Meadow - for leaves
Sahara Sand – for center of flower and very, very lightly for shadows under the flower and leaves
Adhere the stamped and watercolored thick white cardstock to the large Mossy Meadow rectangle and then to the Whisper White Thick card.
Rub the Embossing Buddy across the strip of Mossy Meadow Cardstock. Then, put the strip on top of the Stampin' Pierce Mat.
Mount the “happy birthday” or “thank you” sentiment from the Magnolia Blooms Set on Block B. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp in the center of the strip of Mossy Meadow. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist or Stampin' Scrub, but leave it on the block.
Place the stamped sentiment strip in the center of a piece of Grid Paper. Sprinkle on White Stampin’ Emboss Powder so it covers the entire sentiment. Tap off excess powder. Return extra powder to the container.
Heat with the Heat Tool until the powder is completely melted (shiny).
Place the heat embossed sentiment strip back on top of the Stampin' Pierce Mat.
Re-ink the sentiment stamp with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp over the top of the heat embossed sentiment slightly offset to get a shadow effect. Clean the stamp and put it away. Use a clean tissue or paper towel to wipe off excess ink on the sentiment.
Unlock the Timeless Label Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide in the stamped and heat embossed sentiment, get it centered in the punching area, and punch.
Adhere the sentiment punch out to the lower right corner of the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Let it cover the stem of the bottom bud and the bottom of the colored central flower.
Pick out a copper Leaves Trinket. Adhere it to the bottom right corner of the card front using Mini Glue Dots so the stem of the trinket is tucked under the lower right corner of the sentiment punch out.
Cut a 3” piece of Magnolia Lane Ribbon and a 4” piece of Magnolia Lane Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.
Tie the thread around the center of the ribbon in a knot to make the ribbon bunch up. Trim the ends of the ribbon and thread.
Adhere the tied ribbon piece to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot so it overlaps the lower right corner of the sentiment punch out.
Use the brush tip of the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to color in a clear flower from the Frosted Flower Embellishments while it is on the sheet.
Use the Take Your Pick spatula to remove the colored flower being sure to get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere the flower over the center of the tied ribbon.
