Encouraging Rose |
|
A fter I knocked my water over and spilled ALL THE WATER on my desk last night, I cleaned my watercolored workspace and then consoled myself by making a quick but gorgeous watercolored card.

Cut a Thick Whisper White card base 4-1/4" x 11"; score and fold at 5-1/2". Yes! You can watercolor on Thick Whisper White! Don't go overboard with saturating your cardstock, but it does hold up to a little water.
Stamp the rose from the Rose Wonder stamps in the corner of the card in Calypso Coral ink. You're not stamping the entire rose. Just cover the whole corner and you're good. I used the MISTI, because it's such a detailed image. With all of my pushing on the upper leaf area, I also smushed ink from the negative part of the stamp onto the card. Aaaaaand that's why I got out my Aqua Painter. To cover up my card mistake.
Since I had dots in my upper leaves, I closed my ink pad and squeezed, then picked up some ink off the inside cover of the ink pad with my Aqua Painter. I used my finger to flick the ink onto the paper a few times, and my mistake was unnoticeable. *raises roof*
I cleared out my brush, ran the clean brush over the rose part of the stamped image (just once, enough the get the paper wet but not saturated). Then I picked up more ink and painted the rose. Just picked up extra ink as needed until I had the whole flower done.
I was making this card for a Christian friend who sends a lot of encouraging cards to people (me included!); I'm not sending it *to* her; it's for her to send to someone else. Anyway, that's why I decided to put the verse from Isaiah 41 on the front of the card, stamped in Night of Navy ink. The inside has "You're in my thoughts and prayers" stamped in Night of Navy.
Wink of Stella doesn't show up well in pictures, but it's lovely on a card. I painted some onto a few parts of the rose. Not the whole thing, just the center and a few petals. I love the soft shimmer!
And that's it. So easy. I think I made it in 10 minutes, and I'm a 2-hours-for-1-card kind of girl.
