Bleaching The Swallowtail Butterfly |
I
saw this technique on You Tube by Vicki McCarthy Aussie Stampers called 2 Swallowtails Bleached and Embossed - Stampin Up.
I love it and wanted to share this beautiful card with at one of my monthly classes I hold in Mornington, Victoria, Australia

Cut your base Card Tempting Turquoise 14.5 x 29cm
Cut Basic Black Cardstock 14cm x 14cm and layer on top of tempting turquoise leaving an even border.
Cut another piece of tempting turquoise measuring14.5cm x 14.5cm. Wipe your Embossing Buddy over the card then stamp the Swallowtail using Versamark Ink. Sprinkle generously with Black Embossing Powder then tap off the excess powder. Heat with your Heat Tool to melt the powder.
Using and Aqua Painter filled with liquid bleach, wash over the inside of the butterfly. When all areas are done, make sure it has dried completely, you may want to use your heat tool again to do this quickly.
Using your Stamp Write Markers colour in to your liking, then add some shimmer with Wink of Stella Clear and Wink of Stella Gold Pens to highlight.
Fussy cut around the Swallowtail edges. Then using a black marker go around all the cut edges.
On a piece of Tempting Turquoise scrap cardstock, stamp a sentiment and cut it out. The sentiment I used is from Cottage Greetings 'hope your day is wonderful'. Then I used a Project Life Cards and Labels Die to cut it out on the Big Shot.
Adhere the centre part of your Butterfly to the black card on a slight angle to fit using Liquid Tombow Glue, and then adhere your sentiment. I used a dimensional to raise it up a bit.
Stamp a few butterflies on the inside of your card and also on the envelope. I used the Papillion Potpourri butterflies stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink.
.
This card didn't fit a standard envelope so I created one using my Envelope Punch Board. Cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise Cardstock
9 12" x 9 1/2" then Punch at 4 3/4" Turn 90 degrees then punch on the scored line and turn again 90 degrees and repeat on all sides. Using the corner rounder punch each corner, then adhere closing flap to form your envelope. Easy to follow instructions are on the Envelope Punch Board.
