Adorable Owls Peekaboo Love |
C ute card perfect for lots of occasions using Stampin' Up! products including some that can be earned for FREE during Sale-A-Bration.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Balmy Blue Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Soft Suede Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of closely packed dots on blue background design from Dandy Designs 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" x 4-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" square from Real Red Cardstock
Insert the Soft Suede rectangle into the embossing folder included with the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder so the largest ring is in the lower left corner and will be complete and you'll also emboss the two rings just above and to the right of it and the one just above it completely. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Pick out the three open ring dies included with the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder that match the three rings in the center of the dry embossed cardstock. Place the dies on the cardstock on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Note: Keep the cut out tree rings if you wish to use on another project. You'll be using the large Soft Suede rectangle with the holes dry embossed and cut into it for this project.
Use Stampin' Seal and Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the dry embossed and cut Soft Suede rectangle to the Dandy Designs Designer Paper so the dots of the designer paper show through the holes.
Adhere the layered Soft Suede/designer paper rectangle to the front of the Balmy Blue card. Make sure the large hole cut into the Soft Suede layer is in the bottom left corner.
Mount the owl with party hat image from the Adorable Owls Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on one side of the large white rectangle. Don't worry if you don't get the entire party hat, you are going to cut it off anyway. Leave room to stamp the other owl.
Mount the flying owl image from the Adorable Owls Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other side of the large white rectangle.
Place the stamped owls on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends to color in the owls eyes and beaks.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color in the top of the flying owl's head and ears and the owl's wings and body around his belly.
Use the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the in the top of the party hat owl's head and ears and the owl's wings and body around his belly.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Leave the faces and bellies of the owl's white.
Don't worry about coloring in the feet and legs or party hat as you are going to cut those off.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the colored owls. Cut off the feet and legs and the party hat.
If desired, use the fine tip of the appropriate Light Stampin' Blends to go around the edges of the cut out owls to color in any white spots.
Adhere the flying owl cut out to the front of the card so he is tucked under the left edge of the top hole cut into the Soft Suede layer.
Adhere the party hat owl cut out to the front of the card at a slight angle so he is tucked into the bottom right side of the bottom left hole cut into the Soft Suede layer.
Mount the set of three little hearts in a solid speech bubble image from the Conversation Bubbles Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small white square.
Pick out the matching speech bubble die from the Conversation Bubbles Dies. Put it on top of the stamped square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the speech bubble is centered in the opening of the die. Run through the machine.
Place the stamped speech bubble on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the fine tip of the Dark Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the small hearts.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored speech bubble cut out to the front of the card at a slight angle in the center of the hole cut into the right side of the Soft Suede layer.
Pick out both sets of two little hearts dies from the Conversation Bubbles Dies. Put them on top of the Real Red square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the small heart cut outs to the front of the card as shown.
Cut a 4" piece of the Real Red ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack and a 4" piece of the Sahara Sand ribbon from the Old Olive & Sahara Sand Twill Ribbon Combo Pack.
Lay the Real Red ribbon on top of the Sahara Sand ribbon in the center. Tie a half knot in the center of the layered ribbons. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the double ribbon knot to the front of the card as shown at a slight angle along the bottom left side of the hole cut into the right side of the Soft Suede layer.
