P
retty card adaptable for many occasions using Stampin' Up! products including some that can be earned for FREE during Sale-A
-Bration 2021.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Seaside Spray Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of small white and light blue flowers on dark blue background design from Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper
- 3" x 4" from Whisper White or Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 4" from Whisper White or Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Seaside Spray Cardstock
Adhere the rectangle of Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper to the front of the Seaside Spray card.
Cut a 5" piece of Seaside Spray 1/4" Metallic Ribbon so it has an angle on each end.
Lay the piece of ribbon across the center of the horizontal card front. Use a small piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the center of the ribbon to hold it in place. Leave the protective backing in place for now.
As you are ready to stamp using the A Touch Of Ink Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the large outline butterfly image from the A Touch Of Ink Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it near the center on the left side of the 3" x 4" rectangle of white cardstock. Leave the stamp on the block.
Mount the large solid butterfly wings image from the A Touch Of Ink Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp it over the previously stamped outline butterfly image. Leave the stamp on the block.
Note: The solid wings do NOT match up exactly with the outline wings. They will go over the edges.
Use the Seaside Spray Marker to color in the butterfly's body.
Pick out the notched rectangle label die from the Fluttering Dies. Put it on top of the stamped white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the body of the butterfly is near the center and the wings will get cut off a bit on the left and top edges. Make sure there is room to stamp a sentiment in the lower right corner in the next step. Run through the tool.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the A Touch Of Ink Set on an appropriate sized block. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the notched rectangle label cut out.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Seaside Spray Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, lightly rub it over the stamped, notched corner label cut out a bit over the stamped sentiment. Also use the Blending Brush to add a little color to the edges of the label cut out Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Do NOT clean the Blending Brush yet.
Tip: Put the cardstock on a piece of Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape holding the ribbon in place on the front of the card. Add some Stampin' Seal to the back of the stamped and inked label cut out and adhere it to the front of the card so it is centered over the ribbon.
Re-ink the large outline butterfly image on Block C with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it twice on the 2-1/2" x 4" strip of white cardstock leaving a little space between the images. Re-ink the stamp each time.
Re-ink the large solid butterfly wings image on Block D with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp it over the previously stamped outline butterfly images. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Use Paper Snips to cut out both sets of butterfly wings. Cut the body off of each.
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add some shimmer to some parts of the cut out butterfly wings. Remember one of the sets of wings will only show around the edges, so you don't need to shimmer the whole thing.
Adhere the set of wings with glimmer only on the edges to the front of the card using Stampin' Seal so it lines up with the stamped wings image on the label cut out.
Adhere the set of wings with more glimmer on them to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals at a slightly different angle so you can see some of the back set of wings. Just make sure the area where the wings meet the body are near the body.
Pick out the small, solid, detailed butterfly die from the Fluttering Dies. Put it on top of the Seaside Spray rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the tool. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if necessary.
Rub the Blending Brush across the open Seaside Spray Ink Pad to get it inky again. Then, lightly rub it over the center of the small, solid butterfly cut out. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: Put the cardstock on a piece of Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add some shimmer to the body and wings of the solid butterfly cut out.
Bend the wings of the solid butterfly cut out up a bit.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensionals in the center of the back of the small, solid butterfly cut out to adhere it to the front of the card so it overlaps the lower right corner of the label cut out a bit.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 small Balmy Blue gems and 1 small Night Of Navy gem from a sheet of Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them in a line just above the sentiment so the Night Of Navy gem is in the center.
