Masculine Card |

I
have been doing a lot of research lately so that I can use some new techniques with my stamping. Thank you to my friend Cathy Williams ( http://inkingitupwithcathy.blogspot.com/) for introducing me to your way of doing boards for the cards.
I fell in love with the Star framelits the day I watched a video that has consumed me on You Tube a simple concept using the framelits so I put it into practice with this star card.
I have been trying to use up my scraps from clubs past in different ways so I have an alternative card in the instructions. Be sure and check it out.

Cut a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 score at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8". Cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock at 4" x 5". Cut a piece of Basic Black 9" x 1". Cut your choice of DSP Going Places at 4" x 5 1/4". From the scrap of the DSP use the Decorative Label and punch out a label. Using the smallest star in the Star Framelits cut a star out of the scrap of your DSP. Cut a 3/4" x 6" strip out of a coordinating DSP Piece. Using the second to the smallest star cut a lost lagoon star out. Cut a 30" piece of silver twine out. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla using the Treat Bag Framelit Banner. The Large Oval works as well.
Fold the piece of Sahara Sand cardstock. Choose your placement of the star. I chose to mark a dot at 2 3/4" right in the middle. The first sample that I made I centered the 2nd to the smallest star around my mark. I found that it was too top heavy and didn't stay closed as well. So I placed the tip of the bottom of the star and cut each side using the framelit.
Fold 4 x 5 1/4" DSP in half and place it under your main layer and place the framelit for the second to smallest star and cut.
Remove main layer but keep star on the DSP and frame it with the third to smallest star and cut.
Trim your DSP on the fold line 1/8" and this is what you will get.
Adhere the DSP to the main card layer.
Close the card and using a dimensional pop the the lost lagoon star in the middle then adhere the smallest DSP star to the Lost Lagoon. This helps to keep the card closed at the top when you have the belly band on.
Adhere you piece of Very Vanilla to the inside of the card. Stamp any sentiment you choose I loved the dipper star stamp.
Create the Belly Band by adhering your 3/4" x 6" Dsp to your 9"x1" Basic Black piece. I adhered the ends to create the belly band at this point. I then tied on my 30" of twine to the whole band. Then using a dimensional I popped up the Label punch and added my sentiment on the treat bag framelit that I cut in 1/2.
Slip the Belly Band on and you are completed. Here is what it looks like as a feminine card as well.
I also made a cute Star for the feminine card using the Blushing Bride glitter. Hope you enjoy it!
