Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, Foil Sheets, and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Highland Heather Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Gorgeous Grape Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Highland Heather Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3-7/8" of small white roses on light purple background design from Best Dressed 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Silver Foil Sheets
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 2-1/4" of small white roses on light purple background design from Best Dressed 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
Lightly spritz the top two-thirds of the Highland Heather rectangle with water and insert into the Stone 3D Embossing Folder so the bottom 2" of the cardstock hangs out the bottom of the folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine. Set aside to dry.
Mount the lady in a kimono image from the Power of Hope Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub, but leave the stamp on the block.
Pick out the smooth oval die from the Layering Ovals Dies that cuts out a smooth oval that is 3" long. Put it on top of the stamped kimono lady rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the image is centered (concentrate on centering the umbrella from side to side). Run through the tool.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the designer paper that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the lady in a kimono oval cut out on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Dark and Light Highland Heather Stampin' Blends Markers to color in the umbrella.
Use the Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the lady's hair.
Use the Ivory Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the lady's neck and chin.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess color.
Re-ink the lady in a kimono image on Block H with the Gorgeous Grape Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 1" x 2-1/4" rectangle of designer paper so you get the kimono. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and put it away.
Carefully cut out the kimono using Paper Snips. Cut just outside the stamped lines.
Adhere the cut out designer paper kimono over the top of the stamped image kimono.
Pick out the scalloped oval die from the Layering Ovals Dies that cuts out a scalloped oval that is 3-1/4" long. Put it on top of the Silver Foil Sheets rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
Use Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the lady in a kimono oval cut out to the center of the Silver Foil oval cut out.
Note: SNAIL Adhesive does NOT stick well to the Foil Sheets, so you'll get better adhesion if you use Tear & Tape Adhesive.
If the dry embossed Highland Heather rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if needed.
Mount the "today is a day for new beginnings" or "Good Luck" sentiment from the Power of Hope Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Gorgeous Grape Ink Pad. Stamp it in the smooth, lower right corner of the dry embossed Highland Heather rectangle.
Adhere the remaining strip of Best Dressed Designer Paper to the dry embossed and stamped Highland Heather rectangle so it is just above the stamped sentiment.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of Purple 3/8" Tricolor Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the rectangle so it covers the top seam between the dry embossed cardstock and the designer paper. Secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add SNAIL to the back of the Highland Heather rectangle. Adhere the rectangle to the Gorgeous Grape rectangle and then to the front of the Highland Heather card.
Wrap the end of the Silver Metallic Thread around your fingers a few times. Cut the thread loose from the spool. Use Tear & Tape to adhere the thread in loops to the back of the matted kimono lady oval so it will stick out on the upper right side of the oval when it is right side up.
Put more Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the matted lady in a kimono oval cut out with thread attached and adhere the oval to the front of the card on the left side so the bottom of the oval hangs over the top of the ribbon and designer paper strip a bit.
Note: SNAIL Adhesive does NOT stick well to the Foil Sheets, so you'll get better adhesion if you use Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Purple 3/8" Tricolor Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the card front at an angle so it is centered over the ribbon already on the card front on the lower left side of the matted lady in a kimono oval.
