T his greeting, that "pops up" when the card is folded shut, is so sweet! And, as long as the 2" circle is punched exactly 1/2 way over the fold, the card will fold as it should and the greeting will fit!!
Project Recipe
I wanted this card to be bright and colourful so by choosing the DSP called It's My Party, I was able to pick Melon Mambo with matching ribbon.
The card base is 4-1/4" X 11" - scored at 2-1/2" from one end and at 4-3/16" from the other end.
After folding on the score lines and attaching the 2-1/4" X 4" DSP, open the 2-1/2" flap and punch with the 2" Circle Punch by placing it all the way in from the edge - make sure the fold is exactly in the centre of the punch.
The greeting was embossed with Versamark Ink and White Embossing Powder on Basic Black cardstock before it was punched out with the scallop circle punch. Use Snail Adhesive to attach the scallop circle to the 2" Melon Mambo circle. **Using the Embossing Buddy on the black cardstock will help eliminate those pesky unwanted embossed dots that occur when embossing powder sticks where it shouldn't!!
A customer had shown me how to attached a ribbon and tie a "bow in the hole" so I was excited to be able to share this technique with my class! By punching a hole, with the handheld 1/4" Circle Punch, where you want the bow to be, you wrap the ribbon around the card layer, starting on the top. When you get to the back side of the hole, thread both ends through to the top, one on each side of the ribbon, and tie your knot or bow. Results are amazing!!
Stamp Happy Birthday on the inside layer of DSP before attaching it to the inside layer of the card. There are lots of greeting to choose from but, one thing I always do, is stamp first before attaching the stamped layer to the card - just in case I have to turn the paper over!
