P retty birthday card made with Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Fresh Freesia Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pale Papaya Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 3-3/4" of small pansies on stems, other flowers, and leaves on pale green background design from Pansy Petals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the flowers are vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 3-1/4" x 3-3/4" of pale purple gingham check design from Pansy Petals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 2-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Pale Papaya Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" from Soft Succulent Cardstock
Adhere the smaller strip of Pansy Petals Designer Paper with the small flowers on it to the left side of the horizontal, large Pale Papaya rectangle leaving about 1/8" of Pale Papaya showing on the left, top, and bottom edges.
Adhere the larger piece of Pansy Petals Designer Paper with the gingham pattern to the right side of the horizontal, large Pale Papaya rectangle leaving about 1/8" of Pale Papaya showing on the right, top, and bottom edges. This piece of designer paper should overlap the right edge of the previous piece of designer paper a small amount.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Soft Succulent 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the layered designer paper/cardstock pieces so it hides the seam between the two designer paper pieces. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Pale Papaya rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Fresh Freesia card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Pansy Patch Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "Thank You" or "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Pansy Patch Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Evening Evergreen Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the horizontal Pale Papaya strip in the center. Leave room to punch it out.
Unlock the Label Me Fancy Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area top to bottom with the sentiment more to the right side. Punch.
Adhere the sentiment punch out to the front of the card so the left edge of the punch out overlaps the ribbon on the card front and the bottom edge is about 1" from the bottom of the card.
Mount the large, more solid pansy flower outside edge image from the Pansy Patch Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Fresh Freesia Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp the image in the center of the white rectangle.
Mount the large, more detailed pansy flower outside edge image from the Pansy Patch Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Fresh Freesia Ink Pad. Stamp the image over the top of the image already stamped in the center of the white rectangle.
Mount the larger, more solid pansy flower interior image from the Pansy Patch Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pale Papaya Ink Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp the image in the center of the previously stamped pansy image on the white rectangle.
Mount the medium-sized, solid pansy flower interior image from the Pansy Patch Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Pale Papaya Ink Pad. Stamp the image in the center of the previously stamped pansy image on the white rectangle.
Place the stamped white rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Fresh Freesia Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub the inky Blending Brush over the edges of the stamped pansy image to cover all the white areas around the edge. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Pick out the matching, open pansy flower die from the Pansy Dies. Put it on top of the stamped and blended pansy on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the pansy is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the pansy flower cut out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it overlaps the upper left side of the sentiment punch out.
Pick out the solid, small, straight up and down leaf die from the Pansy Dies. Put it on top of the Soft Succulent rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed.
Mount the small, more detailed leaf veining image from the Pansy Patch Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Evening Evergreen Ink Pad. Stamp it on top of the small leaf cut out.
Tip: Since the leaf die is solid and the stamp set is photopolymer, I find it easier to stamp the leaf veining image on the already cut out leaf shape.
Adhere the stamped leaf cut out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it tucks under the right side of the pansy cut out and overlaps the top left side of the sentiment punch out a bit.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one large Mint Macaron gem from the sheet of Genial Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the pansy cut out over the white dot in the center.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Soft Succulent 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot at a slight angle to the front of the card where the sentiment label punch out and the bottom of the pansy cut out meet.
Pick out a large Pale Papaya flower from the Loose Flower Flourishes. Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the flower to the upper right corner of the card front.
