P retty birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer vellum, and doliy pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer and Paper Snips:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Flirty Flamingo Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 6" strip of stained glass roses from sheet of 4 flower strips design from Graceful Glass 6" x 6" Designer Vellum
- 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-3/8" x 2-5/8" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- half of an Old Olive Colored Doily
Mount the rose image from the Painted Glass Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small white square. Set it aside to let it dry thoroughly.
Insert the Flirty Flamingo rectangle into the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Use the thin line drawn on the front flap of the folder to help you line up the paper and get it straight. Place the folder with the paper inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Place the strip of Graceful Glass Designer Vellum on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great) to protect it from ink. You can color on the top of the vellum or on the back. The colors will be more intense if you color on the top.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the light colors first and add highlights with the darker colors. If needed to blend the colors, go over things again with the lighter colors. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Old Olive Markers to color in the stems, thorns, and leaves.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Markers to color in the centers of the roses.
Use the Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo Markers to color in the rest of the roses.
Use the Dark Pool Party Marker to color in the open areas around the roses.
Put a couple of Mini Glue Dots on the back of the colored vellum strip where they will be hidden by the colored roses or leaves. Lay the colored vellum strip on top of the long white strip. Use the Bone Folder to crease the vellum strip where it goes over the top and bottom edges of the white strip. Fold the ends of the vellum strip over to the back of the white strip. Adhere the folded over vellum in place using small strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive. Leave the protective backings in place.
Mount the birthday, sympathy, or celebrate sentiment from the Painted Glass Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small white rectangle as close to the right edge as possible.
Adhere the stamped sentiment strip to the Old Olive strip.
If you haven't already done so, use Paper Snips to cut an Old Olive Colored Doily in half. Adhere one half to the right side of the dry embossed Flirty Flamingo rectangle so the flat edge of the doily half is about 2-1/4" from the top and the right edge of the doily half almost touches the right half of the rectangle. Put the other half of the doily away to use on a future project.
Adhere the matted sentiment strip to the dry embossed Flirty Flamingo rectangle so it covers the flat edge of the doily half and is about 3/16" in from the right edge.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips on the back of the white cardstock/vellum strip and add more SNAIL to the back of the cardstock. Adhere it to the left edge of the dry embossed Flirty Flamingo rectangle.
Adhere the layered Flirty Flamingo rectangle to the front of the Old Olive card.
Pick out the rose framelit from the Stained Glass Thinlits. Place the stamped rose image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the rose framelit on top so it is centered over the stamped image. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Place the rose cut out on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.

Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the colored rose cut out to the front of the card so it is centered over the half doily and overlaps the bottom of the matted sentiment strip.
