Project Recipe
Card Cuts:
Night of Navy card base - 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 scored @ 4-1/4
Soft Suede Mat - 4 x 5-1/4
Basic White - 3-3/4 x 5, 3-5/8 x 4-7/8, scraps for die cutting flowers and kitten about 2 x 2-1/2
In Good Taste DSP 1-1/2 x 3-3/4 (save cut off portion for card interior)
Neutrals 6 x 6 DSP 2 x 1-1/4
Basic Black scrap for dog
Fold Night of Navy card base on the score line and burnish with your bone folder. Adhere Soft Suede mat to card front.
On Basic White 3-3/4 x 5 piece, stamp the open door from the Warm Welcome stamp set. (I later found it better to offset it so there is very little white to the left of the door).
Use your Black Stampin' Write Marker and a ruler to draw the bricks from the bottom of the door up to the top of the basic white piece. Mask off the door and the area under the door with a piece of copy paper. Use your Blending Brush and Crumb Cake ink pad to add color to the bricks. When you are satisfied, remove the mask, and add a separate mask that leaves only the open door showing. Use Daffodil Delight ink with a Blending Brush to leave a warm glow coming from inside the doorway.
Stamp your greeting inside the open door.
Take your Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blend, and add dimension to the bricks by going around the doorway, creating a shadow, and along some of the bricks. Color in the door frame with Light Soft Suede Stampin' Blend, and the storm door with both Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends.
You are now ready to make a cut with your scissors from the left side of the card, just under the bricks, and around the storm door. Stop where the open door begins. Now slip your In Good Taste DSP under the storm door, and adhere it to the bottom of the Basic White piece, creating the floor. Use a scrap of Basic White paper to adhere the back of this piece back together where you made the cut. This will reinforce the layer. Trim the excess DSP off the bottom with your paper trimmer and adhere it to the card inside layer near the bottom. You may now adhere these layers to your card front and inside respectively.
Stamp the flowers, and kitten on Basic White scraps, and use Stampin' Blends to color in as desired. Stamp the WELCOME onto the Soft Suede DSP. Die cut the pieces along with the dachshund from a Basic Black scrap. Adhere to the card front as shown in the sample. I also stamped the kitten on the bottom left hand corner of my envelope.
