Q uick and easy Christmas cards using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and foil sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Whisper White Thick Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from one of the black sheet music designs from Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 2-3/8" x 3-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 3/4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" from Silver Foil Sheets
Place the long strip of white cardstock on top of Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Mount the scroll work image from the Musical Season Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Basic Black Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the long strip of white cardstock. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again to one side of the first image trying to get as close as you can to the first image without overlapping. Re-ink again and stamp on the other side of the first image, getting as close as possible without overlapping.
Tip: One way to know where an image is on the stamp is to use the brush tip of a Marker and make a small mark near the end of the stamp on the clear block. When you stamp, you'll be able to see the mark on the block to let you know where the edge of the stamp is and help you line things up. Or, you can use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if you prefer!
Adhere the stamped white strip to the left edge of the designer paper rectangle.
Mount the drummer boy image on Block D. Ink it up with the Basic Black Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle so that the head is about 1/4" from the top.
Mount the "Peace Joy Love" sentiment on Block H. Decide which word you want to stamp below the drummer boy. Ink up only that word using the side of the brush tip of the Basic Black Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp below the drummer boy image.
Tip: Use the brush tip of the Marker and make a small mark on the clear block on either side of the word you are stamping. When you stamp, you'll be able to see the marks on the block to let you know where the word is and help you line things up. Or, you can use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if you prefer!
If you are making more than one of these cards and want to use a different word on the other cards, then be sure to thoroughly clean and dry the sentiment stamp between different words.
Tip: After cleaning and drying the stamp with the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub, I like to rub my fingers across the stamp to make sure that all ink and wetness is gone so I don't get a ghost image.
Adhere the drummer boy/sentiment rectangle to the designer paper/stamped white strip layer so that the left side of the drummer boy rectangle overlaps the right side of the white strip by about 1/4" and the top of the drummer boy rectangle is about 3/4" down.
Cut a 6" piece of Silver 1/8" Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the stamped white strip and designer paper layers so it covers the seam between the layers and overlaps the left edge of the drummer boy rectangle. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the layer. Adhere the layer to the front of the Whisper White Thick card.
Cut an 8" piece of Silver 1/8" Ribbon. Tie a small bow and trim the ends. Adhere the bow to the ribbon on the card front in the upper left corner of the drummer boy rectangle using a Mini Glue Dot.
Pick out the treble clef framelit from the Musical Instruments Framelits. Place the Silver Foil Sheets rectangle on the Precision Base Plate on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the treble clef framelit on top. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times. Use the Die Brush to remove the pieces.
Adhere the treble clef cut out to the card front using Mini Glue Dots so it is at a slight angle over the bottom right corner of the drummer boy rectangle.
