Scrap for Kerchief
This is a landscape card, so you'll want to keep that in mind when punching.
Use the Hexagon punch to punch nine (9) Them Bones DSP hexagons. If you want a specific image in the center, this is the time to "fussy punch" it. To fussy punch, turn the punch over and insert the paper until you're happy with the image showing, the punch. Be aware of any directional paper when punching.
Arrange the DSP hexagons in a pattern pleasing to you on the front basic black layer (3-7/8" x 5 3/8). If you would like, take a photo to help you remember the DSP placement.
Using the placement photo if you took one, adhere the DSP hexagons to the card front layer placing the center hexagon first. Keep the space between hexagons as even as possible and adhere them to the front layer using the middle hexagon as a guide. If you end up with areas needing a small piece you can use the scraps after you cut off the excess edges.
Die cut a large skeleton from the Them Bones DSP using either one of the Stampin' Cut and Emboss machines.
From the 3-1/2" x 4" scrap of Basic Black cardstock, die cut 2 large skeletons. Adhere the cardstock skeletons with liquid glue, stacking them on top of each other. Adhere the DSP skeleton on top of the black skeletons. This will make your skeleton stronger and able to withstand a lot of "walking".
Die cut the boots and hat out of Starry Sky cardstock.
Pick any Them Bones DSP design to die cut the kerchief.
Adhere the hat, kerchief and boots to your skeleton.
Adhere the assembled front panel to the card base using Stampin' Seal +.
Open the card so the interior is face up with the 1/2" score line on the right. Adhere the two 1/4" x 3-7/8' strips to each other with liquid glue, then to the bottom of the card between score lines, leaving the scored 1/2" free. The strips are slightly smaller than the area between score lines.
Lay the Basic Black greeting layer between the score lines and butt it put against the stopper strip at the bottom. It should fit snugly and be even with the top edge. Trim now if it needs it. Trim the Basic White greeting card layer as well. The bottom of the greeting card layer won't show, so you can trim them even if you'd like.
With the front of the card facing up, place the left edge (which is actually the bottom of the card front) at the 2" mark. Insert your blade point at the 1" mark and cut to the 4-1/4" mark. You will need to apply firm pressure to make sure you get through all 3 layers of the card front. Go back and forth over the same cut 2-3 times stopping at 1" and 4-1/4". Before proceeding, make sure you have cut all the way through. If not, you can use snips or recut with the trimmer.
Center the hexagon punch on the front of the card at the "pulling" edge and cut a notch about 1/2" deep. Place the black and white greeting layers inside with the top edge even with the edge and the bottom butting up against the stopper strips placed earlier. If the inside card is too long, trim from the inside bottom edge where it meets the strips. This area will not be seen and can be trimmed a little at a time until the layer edge is even with the edge. However, it should fit. Close the front and make a light pencil mark of the notch on the white layer.
Remove the white layer and stamp the sentiment in Cajun Craze. Stamp 3 bats above the sentiment with Starry Sky without inking in between, then reink and stamp the same bat 3 times below the sentiment. Stamp the cat in Memento Tuxedo Black. For all stamping avoid stamping in the penciled notch area. You will not see approximately 2" from the end of the inside card layer, so you will not need to stamp that area. Once stamped as desired, adhere the white layer to the basic black inside layer with Stampin' Seal.
Add the ribbon to the greeting layer. Use a 1/8" hole punch to make a hole centered on the greeting layer and about 1/2" in from the edge. Fold the gingham ribbon in half and thread the folded edge of the gingham ribbon through the hole from back to front. A Take Your Pick Tool will help here.
Feed the ribbon tails through the folded edge you just pushed through the hole and pull the tails up gently to tighten around the edge. Don't pull too hard as you don't want to tear the cardstock.
With a second piece of ribbon, tie a bow around the first ribbon at the edge of the cardstock. Place the inside card into the inside of the card between the two score lines and touching the bottom stopper strips.
Take your window sheet strip and insert it from the back through the slit so about 1-1/2" shows on the front. Lay the upper half of your skeleton on top of the card over the window sheet. Adjust your window sheet strip so that you can adhere the skeleton from head to waist.
Place 2 mini black dimensionals on the top of the window sheet, then adhere the skeleton. There should not be window sheet showing on the front of the card at this time, but it should be sticking out inside the card.
Move the skeleton all the way to the left and straighten the window sheet strip as needed. Trim the strip so that it is inside the scored part of the card - you don't want it to get stuck on any inside parts.
Hold the strip in place with your thumb and open the card. Place your silicone mat under the strip to avoid getting adhesive on the card inside. Apply Stampin' Seal on the upward facing area of the window sheet. This will be adhered to the inside card so that the skeleton walks when the inside card is pulled open.
Double check your inside card is even with the edge and centered between the score lines. Carefully close the front of the card to keeping the skeleton straight and window sheet in place. Stick the window sheet to the inside card.
With the card right side up, apply Tear & Tape on the 1/2" fold and rub with your bone folder to adhere well. Do not take the paper off just yet.
Now turn the card so the inside is up. Use liquid glue on the top of the stopper strips. Place the 1/2" scored edge over the glued edge to adhere. Remove the Tear & Tape paper and bring the card front edge to the scored edge sealing the interior card inside.
Place 3 embellishments on the front of the card avoiding areas where Mr. Skeleton might bump into them.
It's time to make Mr. Skeleton walk. Pull the ribboned edge of the inside card and watch him walk.
Adhere a piece of Bare Bones DSP to the envelope flap and trim. Stamp a Cajun Craze skeleton on the left front of the envelope and then 3 Starry Sky bats. Now you're ready to mail. Enjoy!
