P layful holiday card using Stampin' Up! products. Tip: Save the snowflakes cut out of the background piece and use them to make the Detailed With Love Swirly Snowflakes Wreath card.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Balmy Blue Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
Place the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White Cardstock on the Precision Base Plate on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the Blizzard Thinlit on top. Place a Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot a couple of times. Use the Die Brush to remove the pieces.
Tip: Save the snowflakes to use on a future project, like the Detailed With Love Swirly Snowflakes Wreath card.
Pick out the "celebrate" thinlit from the Celebrate You Thinlits. Build the following sandwich in this order on top of the Big Shot:
- Big Shot Platform with Thin Die Adapter removed
- white Impressions Pad from Big Shot Embossing Mats
- thin dark blue silicone rubber mat from Big Shot Embossing Mats
- 2-1/2" x 5-1/4" Whisper White rectangle
- "celebrate" thinlit with cutting side down so the top of the thinlit is about 1/4" from the top of the cardstock and the right edge of the thinlit is almost touching the right edge of the cardstock
- clear Standard Cutting Pad
Run the sandwich through the Big Shot a couple of times.
Tip: This sandwich will let the detailed thinlit dry emboss the cardstock instead of cutting it.
Use your fingers to tear off the top 1/2" or so of the dry embossed white rectangle just above the dry embossed word.
Adhere the torn, dry embossed white rectangle to the bottom of the snowflake background rectangle.
Tip: Don't get adhesive too close to the torn edge. You want to be able to tuck cardstock under the top edge in a later step.
Use your fingers to tear off the top 1/2" or so of the 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" white rectangle.
Adhere the torn white strip to the bottom of the snowflake background rectangle so the torn edge is right along the bottom of the dry embossed word on the previously adhered layer.
Tip: Don't get adhesive too close to the torn edge. You want to be able to tuck cardstock under the top edge in a later step.
If necessary, use Paper Snips to cut off excess cardstock along the bottom of the snowflake background rectangle.
Adhere the snowflake background rectangle with torn layers attached to the front of the Balmy Blue card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Making Every Day Bright Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the penguin image from the Making Every Day Bright Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Night of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the remaining small strip of white cardstock with the strip horizontal. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it two more times on the strip, re-inking each time. Leave space between each image. Make sure the penguin is stamped right side up.
Unlock the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide a stamped penguin into the punch and get it centered in the matching punching area. Punch. Repeat until you have punched out all three penguin images.
Adhere two of the penguins at slight angles so they overlap each other a tiny bit and slide behind the top torn layer on the left side.
Adhere the third penguin at a slight angle so it slides behind the lower torn layer just to the left of the dry embossed word.
Draw a fine line of glue along the torn edges and a couple of other random lines on the white layers using a Fine-Tip Glue Pen.
Lay the card with glue lines drawn on top of the Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter so it covers all of the glue lines. Tap off excess glitter. Return the excess glitter to the container to use again later.
Tip: I store my glitter in a large plastic container with a lid. I use a plastic spoon to scoop up the glitter when I need it and sprinkle it on while holding the cardstock over the open container. That way, excess glitter falls back into the container as I'm applying it and can be easily tapped off the project back into the container.
Carefully peel up tiny rhinestones from a sheet of Clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the center of the larger snowflake cut outs on the background.
