Q uick and fun birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Crushed Curry Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Night of Navy Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of woven yellow braids design from Country Lane Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 3-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3" from Whisper White Cardstock
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the Better Together Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Night of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it repeatedly all over the piece of Country Lane Designer Series Paper. Let some of the images go off the edges of the paper. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Tip: Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) on your work surface to protect it from ink as you stamp off the sides of the designer paper.
Adhere the stamped designer paper to the Night of Navy rectangle.
Cut a 6" piece of Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the designer paper/matted cardstock layers so the ribbon is about 1-1/2" from the bottom edge. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the Night of Navy rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Crushed Curry card.
Mount the "hello" sentiment image from the Accented Blooms Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Pad. Stamp towards one side of the white rectangle.
Tip: If your ink pad is really inky, you may want to ink up the stamp using a Sponge Brayer instead so you don't get ink into the fine lines. Roll a Sponge Brayer across the open Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, roll the inky brayer over the stamp. Get more ink on the brayer as needed. I just clean my Sponge Brayers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Unlock the Tailored Tag Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the punched out sentiment to the front of the card so it is centered over the ribbon on the right side.
As you are ready to stamp using the Making Every Day Bright Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the outline full feather image from the Making Every Day Bright Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Night of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it three times onto the strip of white cardstock, remembering to re-ink the stamp each time. Stamp so the feathers are pointing up to make it easier to punch them out later. Leave space between the stamped images.
Mount the solid, inside feather pieces image from the Making Every Day Bright Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Ink Pad. Stamp it inside each of the previously stamped feather images, remembering to re-ink the stamp each time.
Use the brush tip of the Daffodil Delight Marker to color in the remaining areas on the feathers.
Unlock the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide one of the stamped feathers into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other two feathers.
Adhere the feathers to the card front so they overlap each other a bit and stick out from behind the upper right side of the sentiment punch out.
Cut a 4" piece of the Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon on the card front to the left of the sentiment punch out and tie it in place using a half knot . Trim the ends.
