Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 4" x 12" and scored at 2", 4", 8", and 10"
- 4 pieces each 1-3/4" x 3-3/4" from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 4 pieces each 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" of tightly packed, small light green foliage on dark green background design from Season Of Green & Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 2 pieces each 4" square from Old Olive Cardstock
- 3 pieces each 3-3/4" square from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 3-1/2" square of mottled green design from Season Of Green & Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 2-3/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 2" x 5-1/2" from Old Olive Cardstock
Fold the 4" x 12" Crumb Cake card base on all score lines so the outer two are mountain folds and the inner two are valley fold. When closed, you should have a square card with flaps on either side.
Adhere the four 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" strips of green foliage Season Of Green & Gold Designer Paper to the four 1-3/4" x 3-3/4" Pretty Peacock strips.
Adhere the matted designer paper strips to the four small side panels on the card front.
Adhere one 3-1/2" mottled green Season Of Green & Gold Designer Paper square to the center of one 3-3/4" Pretty Peacock square and then to the center of one 4" Old Olive square.
As you are ready to stamp using the Light The Year Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "sending love and light this time of year" sentiment on Block H. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 2-3/4" white square positioned as a diamond so it is as close to the top of the diamond as possible and centered side to side.
Adhere the sentiment stamped diamond to the center of the previously matted squares so they all form a diamond.
Putting adhesive ONLY in the center of the back of the matted Old Olive diamond, adhere it to one of the 3-3/4" Pretty Peacock squares so it makes a diamond shape. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess along the left and right edges of the Pretty Peacock square.
Adhere the Pretty Peacock square with matted and cut down diamond shape to the center inside panel of the card so the remaining points of the diamond are on the top and bottom.
Cut each of the remaining Old Olive, Pretty Peacock, and mottled green Season Of Green & Gold Designer Paper squares in half diagonally using the Paper Trimmer.
Adhere the designer paper triangles to the Pretty Peacock triangles and then to the Old Olive triangles.
Put adhesive ONLY in the centers of the matted triangles on the back and carefully adhere the triangles to the front panels of the the card so the edges meet up along the opening of the card as shown.
Mount the large lantern image from the Light The Year Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the remaining white rectangle.
Pick out the matching, large, open lantern die from the Light The Year Dies. Put it on top of the stamped lantern image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Put the lantern cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface because the Stampin' Blends do bleed through.
Use the Lemon Lolly Stampin' Blends to color the inside of the lantern.
Mount the candle image from the Light The Year Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the stamped and colored lantern image so the bottom of the candle touches the inside bottom edge of the lantern.
Mount the bow image from the Light The Year Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the remaining, long Old Olive strip. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again on the strip leaving room to stamp some leaf bunch images and cut everything out.
Mount the more solid leaf bunch image from the Light The Year Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it on the remaining, long Old Olive strip leaving room to stamp one more leaf bunch and cut everything out. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again on the end of the strip leaving room to cut everything out.
Pick out the matching, open, bow die and the matching leaf bunch die from the Light The Year Dies. Put them on top of one of the stamped bow images and one of the stamped leaf bunch images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so they are centered over the images. Do NOT let the dies overlap. Run through the machine. Repeat to cut out the remaining images.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the stems off the bottoms of the leaf bunch images.
Put a small amount of Stampin' Seal along the bottom of the lantern cut out. Adhere the two leaf bunch images to the bottom of the lantern cut out as shown so they stick out to the left and right and the cut bottoms meet in the center.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the bows to the lantern cut out as shown so one is centered over the loop at the top of the lantern and the other is centered over the bottom of the lantern covering the seam between the two leaf bunches.
Use a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue on one side of the back of the lantern image to adhere it to one front triangle panel as shown. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the inner edge of the triangle or the card will be sealed shut.
