H appy spring everyone! Though it kinda seams like winter in most of the US still, we are all looking forward to the blooming of the flowers, the singing of the birds, and face it, sunshine and better weather! That is exactly what inspired me for this weeks blog! I thought I would showcase some of Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous Designer papers and a technique that is very popular right now, the "eclipse". So here we go!
Project Recipe
For this 5 x 7 card you will need:
1-Pear Pizazz Card stock - 7" x 10", score horizontally at 5 " and fold.
Sweet Soiree DSP
1-(Calypso coral with silver dots) - 4 3/4" x 6 3/4"
1-(Flowers on white Background)- 3" x 6 3/4"
Island Indigo Card stock - 3" x 8 1/2"
Get out the S P R I N G letters from the Big Letters framelits, and the flowered DSP. If you have it, use the Magnetic Platform with your Big Shot, if not, Post-its will hold your letters in place. Now line up the letters on the paper staggered up and down. Place the S,R,N lined up at the top, a 1/4" higher than the P,I,G, that are lined up at the bottom, but centered on the 3" strip as shown. Run through the big shot and carefully remove keeping the center parts of the P & R. Also cut out the letters in the Island Indigo.
Take the Flowered DSP piece that the letters were cut out of and use snail tape on the back making sure that there is adhesive all around the letter areas too so they will stick flat. Now place it 1/2" from the bottom of the Calypso Coral DSP piece and press down firmly.
Find the 2 small cut outs from the center of the P & R, put adhesive on the back, Place the P & R letters back in the paper where they fit like a puzzle peice, and use that to position the centers and tape them down. Now remove the letters.
Cut a piece of the Calypso Coral Shimmer ribbon to about 8". Run Snail adhesive along the back. now place it slightly over the top of the flowered DSP top edge, and fold it over the back. Then center the entire piece on the Pear Pizzazz card base. There should be 1/8" green border showing.
Next you will stamp "Let's Celebrate", using the 2 stamps from the "Amazing You" stamp set, on the top left hand corner as shown with Versamark ink. Then dust with silver embossing powder, tap off the excess and emboss with your Heat Tool.
Now get the 2 sets of letters you cut out, put snail adhesive or tombow glue on the back of the flowered DSP and line up and adhere to the top of the matching Island Indigo letters.
Put Mini dimensional adhesive spots on the backs of all the letters and then line them up and place them on the negative letter spaces. They should line up and stand out, creating the "Eclipse" effect.
Add a bow from the shimmer ribbon on the top right and you are done!
If you have an extra bit of DSP left, put it on the front of the envelope so it will match.
Hope you liked this week's card!
