Hey, everyone! I want to show you a card I made for a recent swap with other Stampin' Up! demonstrators. It uses my favorite Halloween set from the holiday catalog, Mr. Funny Bones. Hilarious set with lots of fun sentiments and endless possibilities. Seriously, there are 29 stamps -- endless.
My favorite sentiment of the entire set is this one, "Have a HUMERUS Halloween". I can't resist a good pun (pun hating is bad for your health), so it's perfect. I wanted to highlight the HUMERUS part of the sentiment, so I embossed it in the delicious Copper embossing powder. And to match, I went ahead and embossed the actual humerus of the skeleton in Copper as well. Because you have to, right?
The designer series paper you see is from the Halloween Night Specialty DSP. It's a specialty set because two of the sheets have silver foil designs -- it's gorgeous.
The skeleton herself (I guess she's *Mrs.* Funny Bones) is made using a bunch of different bone stamps (you can use as many or as few bones as you want in your design) and the sugar skull stamp. You can't really tell in the pictures, but I colored in part of the web on her skull with a Pumpkin Pie marker. If you don't have a set of Stampin' Write markers, you can buy the Pumpkin Pie marker in a duo set with Old Olive during the holiday catalog sales period. Which is great, because you can test a couple out without having to buy a full color set.
Mr. Funny Bones does come with a spider web stamp (because it comes with almost everything), but since my circle is pretty big, I wanted to use the bigger spider web stamp from the Spooky Fun stamps, so I stamped several of those behind Mrs. Bones.
The circles are cut with the Layering Circle framelits. Here's a protip: Since so little of the pumpkin pie scalloped circle would show, I added a smaller circle framelit when I was cutting the scallop so that I could use the center of the circle on another project. So basically there's a big glitter donut behind the Whisper White circle. I don't want it to go to waste! I used the inner circles on some Halloween treat bags I made later.
For the tiny flag, since I was making seven of these cards, I masked off the outline of the flag and stamped the BOO in Pumpkin Pie ink, then took that mask off and masked the BOO so I could stamp the outline in the Tuxedo Black. BUT if I were only making one card, I would have just used a Basic Black marker and a Pumpkin Pie marker to color in the different parts of the stamp. I stapled on the flag using the Handheld Stapler.
I cut out the sentiment panel (and the embossed "HUMERUS") using my snips. I popped the sentiment and Mrs. Bones up on Dimensionals and added a bow (cut with snips) on her head and rhinestones for her eyes. Because I'm a huge Goonies fan and it just seemed appropriate.
