Project Recipe
Cut your papers and cardstock:
~Main cardstock base color (in sample here is is Parakeet Party- 4 1/4" x 8 1/4", scored at 5 1/2", a 3" x 3" piece to diecut a scallop edge circle, 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" for front panel, a 3 1/4" square for inside, and a scrap approx. 1/2" x 3" for sentiment.
~Secondary cardstock color (this sample is Tahitian Tide)- 2 3/4" square for circle on front
~Basic white- 4" x 5 1/4" for inside layer, 3 1/16" square for inside square mat (the inside circle will be cut from this), a 2 5/8" square piece to diecut circle for main focal point on front, and 2 1/2" x 4" panel for front flap.
~DSP- from In-Color dsp pack (I used the striped side of Parakeet Party) 3" square.
~Use "Stripes" embossing folder and emboss one half of main basic white panel that goes on inside.
~Use same folder and emboss the smallest front panel rectangle, have stripes going vertically
Diecut pieces:
~Sentiment strip- Cut out a strip using a die from the Floral Gallery Dies (the larger of the two) or you can just cut a strip from cardstock
~Layering Circles- use 2nd from largest scallop edge and cut out Parakeet Party circle. Use second from largest plain circle and diecut from Tahitian Tide cardstock.
~From Stylish shapes dies- Use second from largest and cut one from basic white for focal point and cut another from center of the layer cut for inside of card that is basic white. This will be for inside sentiment.
~From Hippos die set, diecut the three hearts from the 2022-24 in color glimmer paper, use the sweet sorbet color.
Stamp images:
~Stamp one of the basic white circles with the hippo holding the flower using memento black ink.
~Stamp "Love you a TON" on the other circle for the inside using black in, or any coordinating color.
~Stamp sentiment onto strip using Memento Black or coordinating color.
Color with Blends:
~Color the hippo with blends as desired. I used Tahitian Tide for main body and Parakeet Party for second color. You can use any gray or other colors if preferred.
~I went around the hippo with the lightest pool party blender to make it pop a bit.
~Use Tahitian Tide dark blender on the rhinestones to color them.
Assemble:
~Use multipurpose glue and adhere tahitian tide circle onto the Parakeet Party scalloped edge circle. Adhere hippo onto the above circles with dimensionals.
~Use bonefolder and burnish card front flap down to make the gate on left. Glue white panel and then embossed green panel onto this gate.
~Adhere white embossed panel onto inside with the embossed section on right.
~Make stack of squares by gluing basic white square that has circle diecut from center of it onto the green square. On top of basic white adhere dsp square. Center white circle with inside sentiment onto these squares. Glue all down to inside on center.
~Adhere circles to front gate by gluing left side only onto the gate. Make sure it completely covers the inside circle.
~Glue left side of sentiment strip below circles.
Embellish:
~Using Tahitian Tide Metallic Woven Ribbon, tie bow around gate portion. Make another bow and place over the first using glue dot. Fray out ends a bit, if desired.
~Glue hearts onto card.I used the smallest over the flower the hippo is holding.
~Glue on rhinestones.
