Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Starry Sky Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Smoky Slate Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of Starry Sky floral design from 2022-2024 In Color 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortment
- 2 pieces each 2" x 2-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2" from Petal Pink Cardstock
- 1-1/8" x 1-7/8" from Adhesive Sheets
Adhere the piece of Starry Sky floral designer paper to the center of the Smoky Slate rectangle and then to the front of the Starry Sky card.
Mount the "Awwwww! you really are the best" sentiment from the Hippest Hippos Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Starry Sky Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 1-3/4" x 2" white rectangle.
Pick out the oval die from the All That Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the sentiment. Run through the machine.
Cut two pieces of the Gray Granite 1/4" Shimmer Ribbon so one is about 4" long and the other is about 3-1/2" long and they both have angled edges on each end.
Lay the sentiment oval cut out upside down on your work surface. Lay the two pieces of ribbon across the back of the oval horizontally so they cross each other. Use pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive to hold the ribbon pieces in place.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape and adhere the sentiment oval cut out with ribbon attached to the front of the horizontal card so it is centered side to side and is about 1/2" from the bottom of the card.
Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one hinged plate into the Stamparatus on the right side so it is in the topmost hinge space. Put the Stamparatus Foam Mat on the base of the Stamparatus. Put a piece of Small Grid Paper on the base of the Stamparatus.
Place one of the 2" x 2-1/2" white rectangles on the base of the Stamparatus so the cardstock is vertical.
Pick out the hippo holding a flower image from the Hippest Hippos Set. Place the stamp rubber side down on the cardstock on the Stamparatus base so that it is centered on the white rectangle. Close the plate on the Stamparatus and press firmly so the stamp sticks to the plate. Open the plate.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue. Close the plate onto the cardstock on the Stamparatus base and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Tip: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Remove the stamped cardstock from the Stamparatus. Leave everything else in place for now.
Pick out the matching hippo die from the Hippo Dies. Put it on top of the stamped hippo image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Leave the die out.
Tip: It is often better to cut images out with dies before spending all the time to color them in. That way if the dies slip during the cutting process, you haven't wasted a lot of time on the coloring.
Put the matching hippo die from the Hippo Dies on top of the remaining blank 2" x 2-1/2" white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered. Run through the machine. Keep both pieces!
Put the Silicone Craft Sheet on the base of the Stamparatus.
Ink up the stamp on the plate using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. If you get excess ink on the plate, you can wipe it off with a baby wipe or tissue. Close the plate onto the Silicone Craft Sheet on the Stamparatus base and press down firmly. Open the plate.
Tip: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Carefully place the white rectangle with the hippo cut out of it onto the base of the Stamparatus so it is centered over the stamped image on the Silicone Craft Sheet. Now, carefully place the hippo cut out inside the white rectangle. Close the plate of the Stamparatus onto the base and press firmly. Carefully remove both pieces of cardstock. Keep the mirror image hippo cut out and throw away the rectangle with the cut out in the center.
The image stamped on the Silicone Craft Sheet should have transferred to the hippo cut out so you have a mirror image!
Place both hippo cut outs on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the hippos' bellies.
Use the Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the hippos' toe and finger nails and the inside of their ears and to outline their nostrils and mouths.
Use the Light and Dark Gray Granite Stampin' Blends to outline the hippos' noses. Then, use the Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of their noses and blend the grays.
Use the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the hippos' heads, ears, bodies, arms, and legs.
Use the Parakeet Party Stampin' Write Marker to color in the leaf on each of the flower stems and to outline the flower stems.
Adhere the colored hippo cut outs to the front of the card so the feet are tucked under the top of the sentiment oval cut out, the hippos are facing each other, and the hippos slightly overlap at their feet, hips, and noses as shown.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the Petal Pink rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the set of three small hearts die from the Hippo Dies. Put it on top of the Petal Pink rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the Petal Pink side is face up and the die is centered on one side of the rectangle. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Repeat on the other side of the rectangle so you have 6 small hearts.
Carefully remove the protective backing from one of the larger heart cut outs. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is centered between the hippos' heads as shown.
One at a time, carefully remove the protective backings from the two medium sized heart cut outs. Adhere them to the front of the card on either side of the hippos as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 large Starry Sky flowers from the sheet of Fun Flowers Resin Shapes. Adhere them over the flowers at the tops of the stems being held by the hippos.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 5 tiny jewels from a sheet of Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere two to the centers of the Fun Flowers Resin Shapes. Adhere one to the lower right side of the large heart cut out. Adhere the remaining two to either side of the hippos as shown.
