Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, foil sheets, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Mint Macaron Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 4" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
- 2" x 4" of watery blue and greens design from Rings Of Love 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1-3/4" x 2-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 2-3/8" of brushed finish silver foil from Silver Foil 12" x 12" Specialty Pack
- 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" from Mint Macaron Cardstock
- 1-1/8" x 2-3/8" from Adhesive Sheets
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Hippest Hippos Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the vertical Balmy Blue rectangle.
Adhere the piece of Rings Of Love Designer Paper to the center of the Night Of Navy rectangle. The left and right sides will be even.
Adhere the matted designer paper rectangle to the bottom of the stamped Balmy Blue rectangle about 1/4" from the bottom. The left and right edges will be even.
Adhere the stamped Balmy Blue rectangle with matted designer paper attached to the front of the Mint Macaron card.
Mount the running hippo image from the Hippest Hippos Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white rectangle.
Pick out the matching hippo die from the Hippo Dies. Put it on top of the stamped hippo image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Tip: It is often better to cut images out with dies before spending all the time to color them in. That way if the dies slip during the cutting process, you haven't wasted a lot of time on the coloring.
Place the hippo cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends to color in the hippo's belly and nose.
Use the Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends to color in the hippo's finger nails.
Use the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the hippo's head, ears, body, and arms.
Don't worry about coloring in the tail and legs, they will be hidden.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Pick out the tub/bucket die from the Hippo Dies. Put it on top of the silver foil rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the colored hippo cut out and tub/bucket cut out on the left side of the card front so the top of the tub/bucket is even with the top of the Night Of Navy mat for the designer paper and the hippo is tucked underneath the top of the bucket. Once happy with the positioning, adhere the pieces in place.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the Mint Macaron rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the dive mask die and the snorkel die from the Hippo Dies. Put them on top of the Pool Party rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the Pool Party (blue) side is face up. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the dive mask cut out. Adhere it to the hippo cut out over his eyes as shown.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the snorkel cut out. Adhere it to the hippo cut out as shown so the round mouth piece part is centered over his mouth and the flat top end is sticking out to his right side..
Gently squeeze some Snowfall Accents Puff Paint onto the card front at the top of the tub/bucket cut out on either side of the hippo with some on the right side dripping down, on top of the hippo's head on the left side, and along the bottom right side of the bucket/tub cut out and trailing off to the right.
Use the Heat Tool to heat the puff paint until it gets dry and puffy.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large and 2 small white sequins from a sheet of Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown.
