F un Valentine tags to tie onto lollipops made with Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
For each tag, cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- 2" x 3-1/4" from Real Red Cardstock
- 1-7/8" x 2-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
Mount the ape/gorilla, otter, alligator/crocodile, or skunk image from the Hey Love Set on Block C or D. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on one end of the white rectangle. For the ape/gorilla or alligator/crocodile, stamp so the cardstock and image are horizontal. For the otter or skunk, stamp so the cardstock and image are vertical.
Place the stamped animal image on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
For the ape/gorilla: Use the Light Smoky Slate Marker to color in his chest, face, and hands. Use the Dark Smoky Slate Marker to color in the rest of his body. Use the Dark Real Red Marker to color in the heart he is holding.
For the alligator/crocodile: Use the Light Granny Apple Green Marker to color in his belly, eyelids, and back scales. Use the Dark Granny Apple Green Marker to color in the rest of the body. Make sure to leave the teeth and eyeballs white. Use the Dark Real Red Marker to color in his hat and the heart bobbles on the hat.
For the skunk: Use the Dark Smoky Slate to color in his face, arms, feet, body, and bottom stripe on his tail Use the Light Real Red Marker to color in his nose. Use the Dark Real Red Marker to color in the small hearts he is scattering.
For the otter: Use the Light Soft Suede Marker to color in his nose/mouth, belly, and feet. Use the Dark Soft Suede Marker to color in the rest of the body. Use the Dark Real Red Marker to color in the heart in the thought bubble. Use the Dark Pool Party Marker to highlight the ripples in the water. Use the Light Pool Party Marker to blend the ripples and color in water all around the otter.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to remove excess color as needed.
Mount the matching sentiment for each animal from the Hey Love Set on Block B or G. For all of them except the "Hey Valentine" sentiment for the alligator/crocodile, ink them up with the Real Red Ink Pad and stamp them beside or below the stamped and colored animal.
For the "Hey Valentine" sentiment for the alligator/crocodile, use the brush tip of the Real Red Marker to ink up only the word "hey," and then stamp it at an angle in the upper right corner beside the alligator/crocodile. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub. Make sure the sentiment is clean and dry. Use the brush tip of the Real Red Marker to ink up only the word "valentine" and then stamp it at an angle just below the word "hey,".
If desired, use the Light Real Red Stampin' Blends Marker to hand draw a heart under the sentiment on the ape/gorilla rectangle. Make sure the cardstock is on top of some paper to protect your work surface.
Unlock the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Slide one end of the strip of Real Red Cardstock into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
Adhere the stamped and colored white rectangle to the Real Red tag.
Cut an 8" to 10" piece of Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine.
Stick one end of the twine through the hole in the top of the tag. Pull the ends of the twine until they are even. Holding the ends together, create a half knot in the twine as close as possible to the top of the tag.
Tie the loose ends of the twine around the lollipop stick using a small bow. Trim the ends.
