F un Valentine's Day card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Blackberry Bliss Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3 pieces each 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2" x 2-3/4" from Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
- 1-7/8" x 2-5/8" from Adhesive Sheets
- 1-1/2" square from Bermuda Bay Cardstock
Pick out the large, open, scallop-edged heart die that cuts out a heart that is 3-3/16" wide from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. Place the heart die on top of one of the white rectangles on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is at a slight angle and as close as possible to the left side of the rectangle. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Keep the rectangle with the scalloped heart cut out of the left side to use as a stencil on this project.
Tip: This die cuts out the center heart shape which you can save to use on another project. It also cut out a thin, scallop-edged heart frame. Make sure you remove the scallop-edged heart frame from the die and throw it away.
Place the scalloped heart stencil rectangle on top of another one of the white rectangles on top of some Grid Paper on your work surface. If you want, use pieces of washi tape on all four corners to hold the stencil in place.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Real Red Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub off some of the excess ink on the Grid Paper. Then, lightly rub it over the opening in the scalloped heart stencil until the entire heart is filled in with red . Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Remove the stencil.
Pick out the large, open, stitched heart die that creates a stitched heart that is 3" wide from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. Place the heart die on top of the remaining white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is at a slight angle and as close as possible to the right side of the rectangle. Run through the machine.
Note: This die does not cut anything out, it just creates a stitched heart shape on your cardstock.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut out stitched heart on the white rectangle using the stitching as a guide. Keep the rectangle with the heart cut out of the right side to use as a stencil on this project.
Place the heart stencil rectangle on top of the white rectangle with the scalloped heart already stenciled on it on top of some Grid Paper on your work surface. If you want, use pieces of washi tape on all four corners to hold the stencil in place.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Bermuda Bay Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub off some of the excess ink on the Grid Paper. Then, lightly rub it over the opening in the heart stencil until the entire heart is filled in with blue and purple where it overlaps the red heart. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Remove the stencil.
As you are ready to stamp using the Heartfelt Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the small, open heart image from the Heartfelt Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Bermuda Bay Ink Pad. Stamp it around on the heart stenciled white rectangle a few times as shown. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Clean the stamp with the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or Simply Shammy, but leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the small, open heart image on Block A. using the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it around on the heart stenciled white rectangle a few times as shown. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Clean the stamp with the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or Simply Shammy, but leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the small, open heart image on Block A. using the Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad. Stamp it around on the heart stenciled white rectangle a few times as shown. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Mount the dotted outline heart image from the Heartfelt Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Blackberry Bliss Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the blue and purple heart stenciled on the white rectangle.
Adhere the stamped and stenciled white rectangle to the front of the Blackberry Bliss card.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the Blackberry Bliss rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the "love you more than" die from the Love You More Than Dies. Put it on top of the Blackberry Bliss rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the Blackberry Bliss (dark purple) side is facing up. Run through the tool. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Make sure the protective backings for the Adhesive Sheet stay in place for now. You are NOT using the word "than" on this project.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the cut out words on the card front to figure out spacing.
When happy with the spacing and placement, carefully adhere the words one at a time by peeling off the protective backing from the Adhesive Sheet on the back of each piece.
Pick out the small, open, stitched and scallop-edged heart die that cuts out a heart that is 1-1/16" wide from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. Place the heart die on top of the small Bermuda Bay square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the small Bermuda Bay heart cut out to the front of the card so it is centered in the blue/purple heart stencil.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the card front at the base of the blue/purple heart stencil.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 red and 2 white hearts from a sheet of Resin Hearts making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the card front as shown.
