G reat masculine birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Marina Mist Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Night of Navy Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2" x 5-1/8" of black and white stripes design from Petal Passion Designer Series Paper, cut so the stripes are vertical
- 3" square from Night of Navy Cardstock
- 3" square from Whisper White Cardstock
Open the Brick Wall Embossing Folder in front of you. Lightly rub the open Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad over the inside of the front flap (the one that has the "Sizzix" and "Stampin' Up!" logos on it). You are just trying to get a little ink on the raised areas.
Place the large Whisper White rectangle inside the inked up Brick Wall Embossing Folder so the bricks will run horizontally. Place the folder with the card stock inside on top of a Cutting Pad on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Make sure the embossing folder does NOT hang out over the edges of the platform or it will catch the edges of the Big Shot as you crank it through which could damage your folder and Big Shot. Place another Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
Roll the Sponge Brayer across the open Marina Mist Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, roll it repeatedly onto the strip of Petal Passion Designer Paper. Get more ink on the brayer as needed. Keep adding ink until you have the color saturation you want.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Brayers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Adhere the inked strip of designer paper to the dry embossed brick wall white rectangle about 1/2" up from the bottom.
Cut a 6" piece of Night of Navy 3/8" Corduroy Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the cardstock and designer paper layers so it is about 5/8" up from the bottom of the designer paper. Flip the cardstock over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the cardstock. Adhere it to the large rectangle of Night of Navy and then to the front of the Marina Mist card.
Pick out the square framelit from the Layering Squares Framelits that cuts out a 2-5/8" square. Place the Night of Navy square on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the square framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Place the Night of Navy square inside the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the Guy Greetings Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Marina Mist Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white square near the bottom.
Mount the three wrenches image from the Guy Greetings Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it so it is centered just above the sentiment.
Pick out the square framelit from the Layering Squares Framelits that cuts out a 2-3/8" square. Place the stamped white square on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the square framelit on top so it is centered over the sentiment and image. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to paint some sparkle on the wrenches.
Adhere the sentiment/wrenches square to the center of the striped dry embossed Night of Navy square so the stripes are vertical.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the matted squares to the front of the card on the right side so they are centered over the designer paper strip.
Carefully peel up a silver star from a sheet of Metallic Enamel Shapes making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the sentiment/wrenches square just to the right of the word "happy."
Cut a 16" piece of Basic Black Baker's Twine.
Fold the twine in half. Tie it around the left side of the ribbon already on the card front in a small bow. Trim the ends.
